Jules silently scrolled through all the comments on matty's instagram post, she knew she shouldn't have, he told her not to listen to the people who left mean comments under his post, But here she was scrolling through those comments while matty slept peacefully beside her.
Most of the comments insulted her appearance , with just simple words like 'fat or ugly', but then there were the ones that hurt even more, saying matty had downgraded from his last girlfriend, Gabriella Brooks, or that Jules was using the band for fame, which was so incredibly far from the truth.
Jules knew she could never compare to Gabby, 'for god's sake the girls a model of course they would think hes downgraded' she thought to herself, as she scrolled through more of the comments.
A steady stream of tears slowly made their way down her face the more and more she read the comments and tweets about her and matty's relationship. A quiet sob accidentally slipped out of her, she panicked hoping that it didn't wake matty, thankfully it hadn't.
She slowly slipped out of bed and made her way to the bathroom, quickly closing and locking the door behind her. She slid down the back of the door, letting the tears flow freely. How could people be so mean to someone they don't even know? Jules thought, as she placed her head in her hands. They had been dating for only a week before they decided to post anything, they wanted to come out to the public on their terms and not through rumors that flew around on twitter.
Julie knew that dating someone like matty, who had fame and was in the public eye, would come with the backlash of angry fans, mad that their favorite celebrity was taken, but she never thought it would get to this point.
She hadn't realized how long she had been in the bathroom for, until she heard a gentle knock. "Baby are you ok in there?" matty said, as he tried to open the door, but found it locked. "Yeah, um j-just using the bathroom" jules responded back, cursing the fact her voice broke mid sentence. "I'm almost done, just washing my hands" she said, getting up and turning the water on and off to give the impression she washed them, she felt bad for lying to matty but she didn't want him to see her like this.
"Jules I know you're not going to the bathroom, i could hear you crying, baby let me in please" matty pleaded, he wanted to make sure she was ok, he knew something was wrong the minute he woke up and found the spot next to him empty, jules never got up during the night.
Julie caved and unlocked the door, slowly opening it to reveal her now very awake boyfriend. Matty's face dropped when he saw her, it was obvious she had been crying, her eyes were red and puffy, and there were still stray tears falling down her face. "Jules" matty whispered, quickly wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his chest, he placed a kiss on her head and asked "What happened love?". Jules let out a sob in response, unable to form any words at the moment. Matty could feel the fabric of his shirt begin to dampen as the girl continued to cry.
"Lets go lay down" matty whispered, jules nodded her head and the two made their way back to the bed. Matty laid down with jules following insuit, she gently placed her head on his chest as she continued to cry. Matty rubbed her back trying to soothe her as much as he could, he wondered what had gotten her this upset.
After a few minutes, Jule's crying was reduced to a few sniffles here and there. "Do you wanna tell me what happened" matty asked again in a soft tone, " i'm so sorry matty I didn't want you to see me this way, it's kind of embarrassing that I got this upset over those comments, i knew i shouldn't have read them I know but i just- i just couldn't help it " she said, trying to hold back more tears.
"Jules, I'm sorry you had to go through that, why didn't you tell me sooner?" matty asked, he couldn't help but feel guilty, he was the one after all who got her into that situation since they were his fans who commented those mean things. "Don't feel bad matty, it's not your fault people are mean, usually I don't let what other people say about me get to me but-but it was the comments comparing me to gabby and the ones saying that i'm using you guys, that really hurt the most" she responded as she slowly traced the different tattoos he had on his chest, trying to get her mind off of the comments.
"Julie look at me" matty said, jules moved up to face him, she knew it was serious since he never called her by her full first name.
He cupped her face in his hands, "You are beautiful, you make me happy, never let them compare you to gabby, you are two different people which is a good thing, because you Julie make me happier then I ever was with her I can be myself around you, and fuck those people, don't they know you worked with the label way before you even started working for the band? Literally what they're saying is such bullshit, they're not my fans if they're harassing my girlfriend" matty said, never breaking eye contact with her, it disgusted him how his so-called fans would compare her to his ex and not only that , they would claim she was using them for fame which was so untrue he couldnt help but scoff when he heard her say that.
"Thank you matty" she said, " you know I'll always be your biggest cheerleader love, you mean so much to me jules" he responded, and leaned in to kiss her. Her heart practically melted when he said those words "and I'll always be yours matty, you mean alot to me too" she said, finally letting a small smile creep onto her face. "Theres the smile i love" matty said, smiling in return and pulling the girl into a tight hug.
"I-i think I'm gonna try to get some sleep" jules said, reluctantly pulling away from the hug and letting out a yawn. She positioned herself so she was on her side facing the window, matty gently wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his chest, "Goodnight baby" he whispered and placed a kiss on her cheek.
