When you and Clark walked into the office, everyone was working. Stories were being typed and pages were being printed.
"Cat, what's going on?" Clark asked.
"Superman saved like twenty hostages in a bank robbery over on Maine. Lois and Jimmy were the first on the scene, as usual."
"Seriously?" You asked.
"Your first day on the job and there's a story about Superman." Clark said.
"You are one luck lady."
"Walsh!" Perry called.
"Coming!" You replied as you quickly made your way over to him. "Yes, sir?"
"I just wanted to see how you were adjusting on your first day."
"I'm doing well. Everyone is very friendly."
"That's what I like to hear. Oh, do you have that inflation article finished?"
"Yes, I do."
"Good. Send it to me, because I'm sending some more stories your way."
"Yes, sir."
"Thank you. Good work, Walsh."
"Thank you, sir."
You returned to the bullpen and sat across from Clark at your adjacent desks.
"You look happy." He pointed out.
"I'm getting more stories!"
"Congratulations."
"Think about it, if you hadn't taken me to lunch, you probably could've gotten that Superman story." You laughed.
"It's okay. There'll be plenty more to come."
"What do you think about Superman? I mean, since you live in Metropolis and all."
"I think he's doing a good job of helping those in need. You?"
"Other than the fact that he's from another planet, I honestly don't know that much about him. My son loves him though."
"Really?"
"Oh yeah. He has Superman pajamas, Superman bedsheets, Superman toothpaste, I could go on an on."
Lois and Jimmy exited the elevator with wide smiles. They walked over to the both of you and began going on about their story.
"And the bank teller said that he stopped the robbers in thirty seconds!"
"That's probably exaggerated, Lois." Clark told her.
"It's not! She said that he used his super speed and tied them up with a light pole!"
"Did you get any pictures?" You asked Jimmy.
"No. He was already gone by the time we got there."
"Isn't it weird how he doesn't stay around for press?" You asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, he does all this great stuff, but never wants to talk about it. It's like he doesn't want the credit."
"Maybe he just does it out if the kindness of his heart."
"I don't think so, Clark. I mean, yeah, he's saving lives, but I don't believe that someone would do all that just because they're nice."
"Maybe he won't do press because he's hiding something." Cat said as she joined the conversation.
"Hiding what, exactly?" Clark asked her.
