"DID YOU have a good time at the movies?" jax question pulled me out of my thoughts.
after we'd been out we decided to go home, since it was only around twelve, saying we would come back out later in the afternoon.
"what? oh yeah it was fine." i said, pushing around the food on my plate. once again awkward silence was settled upon the kitchen table.
"you'll have to bring this girl around for dinner one time."
"yeah. i'll ask her."
"oh by the way, i found your flashlight in the passageway. i think one of the twins were playing with it." jax said, giving them a pointed look and standing too get the light.
i felt myself freeze as i stared at his outstretched hand, the twins shouting of protests a mere whisper too me.
"thanks." i whisper, taking it. okay, definitely not a dream.
"your welcome.." he says as the twins give up arguing.
i stared down at the somehow over cooked spaghetti. Tim never did learn how to cook even though mom tried to teach him. that always made us laugh.
the memory made my heart swell because for a second i did look up for her smile too, though the familiar feeling was gone as soon as it came.
"so how's it been with that girl?" i heard tim say. i look up and towards jax for his answer though he just shrugged.
"I don't know, fine. She's hard to understand." he sighs. i scoff.
"What's the matter with you?" He asks in a tired tone.
"where's dad."
"at work, you know that now why you bein' all pissy?"
"it doesn't matter. you won't care anyways."
"i'm not having you take a tone like that with me, tell me what's wrong."
"it's ironic how he gets to be friends with girls, though i can't be friends with boys? if he can be friends with the opposite sex so can i!"
"delilah we talked about this!" he groaned, burying his head in his hands.
"i don't see why though!"
"because your just a bern! he's older!"
"when he was my age he was still aloud!"
"delilah it's diffrent."
"how!"
"because i have enough to deal with enough i don't need you being a hore, okay!" he yelled.
the words hit me hard, i don't know why but they did. they made me feel like i was going to throw up, is that what he saw me as?
suddenly i stood up from my chair, it scraping against the floor.
"sit down and eat your dinner!"
"i'm not hungry!"
"did i ask if you was hungry? i said to eat your god damn dinner!" his hand banged against the table at the last word. suddenly i flipped and my hands moved, swiping the plate of the dinner table and onto the floor.
spaghetti layered the floor and the plate lay smashed to pieces. i pushed against the table, it moving a couple inches before storming upstairs.
i slammed my door harshly, locking it and throwing myself on my bed. my door handle started to jiggle and then a rough nock sounded at the door, a yell followed.
"get out here now and speak to me like a adult!"
"oh you'd like that wouldn't you! me to act all grown up? then you wouldn't have to worry about me! wouldn't have to have the bother of looking after me!"
"hey that's not what i meant!"
"and grown ups can have boyfriends! so yeah, let me just grow up and then i can go be a hore without you worrying!"
"your grounded!"
"you can't ground me! your not my dad!"
"i don't care! your grounded!"
"that's fine, didn't want to come out anyways!"
"well your gonna have to come out sometime!"
"no! i don't think i do!"
with one final hand slam against my door i heard his loud footsteps retreating, thumping against the floor loudly.
**
i lay back against my bed, my head propped up on a pillow and my heartbeat thumping against my rib cage softly.
my dad isn't going to be home until tomorrow, and then the day after that i start school. it's only two thirty and i'm already sick of it in here.
feeling slightly bold, i stand from my bed and walk over to my closet, pulling out a zip up hoodie and slid it on before opening my window.
