i walk along in the lunch room with the two boys i'd recently became familiar with, joining it with their chatting occasionally.
Nobody came to speak to me yesterday. they after dad fell asleep he didn't get up until early this morning for work.
just before he left he told me that he had to talk about what happened but rushed out of the door.
Whatever, he'll forget.
i wasn't in the best mood at the moment, the other night on replay like a movie.
"so what do you think bill was gonna tell us yesterday?" stan asks. i pick up an orange and continue walking.
"i know that was weird!"
"i don't know, he's been acting awful moody lately." we stop to get a fork. "in fact they all have, even you lilah."
"mhm.. wait what? me!"
"yeah you." stan laughs slightly.
"oh sorry guys, just have a lot going on i guess." i say looking down at the floor.
"well you haven't been.. that, much?" stan stutters slightly looking at richie for confirmation.
"yeah, you've been quite fine. it's them i'm worried about." he clarifies, though i can tell their both lying. "of corse with this food who can blame em?"
we continue to look over at the table for a moment before bev slot me and quickly waves me over.
"come on guys." i say hurriedly before running over. "hey guys."
"hey!"
"hi."
"hey de!" bev smiles but it drops in an instant before they all turn silent.
i look up to see what was going on only to see that henry boy talking to the two i had been with a couple seconds prior.
i feel my heart drop.
my eyes widen when I watch him take Richie's mash potatoes and smudge them against his glasses.
"The hell?" I mutter beneath my breathe, watching the conflict. I audibly gasp when Richie brings his tray of food up, smashing it into his chest harshly.
He begins to run from the three boys that start to chase him, though but shortly stopped when Henry slipped in something and took the other two down with him.
Richie joined in with the laugher of his peers, though we didn't join in because this would just spark Henry to do something back. Henry got up, cutting everyone's laughter short.
"Hey, nice going banana heels!" Richie yelled. Henry jumped at Richie, making him bolt only to run straight into the principal and knock all of his food onto him.
My mouth stayed parted and I slowly tracked my eyes towards Stan who turned to look at me at the exact same time, both of our faces frozen in shock and his partly in fear.
"Toizer! Bowers!" The principal yelled angrily thought Henry didn't seem to care as he walked out of the lunchroom, his goons following close by. "Go downstairs and get a mop from Mr. Marsh and clean this up! Go on!"
Richie glared at the principal before storming out of the lunchroom and disappearing into the hall.
We all watched sadly while everyone else continued their previous chatter, the rest of the group doing the same.
Stan came over, discarding his tray in the table clearly having lost his appetite from the previous scene.
"Hey uris." I hum.
"Hey, doll."
"Do you like oranges?" I ask.
"There okay, why?"
"Cause I don't wanna eat mine, duh." I say, picking it up from my tray. He chuckles slightly and shakes his head.
"Okay? Then don't eat it. and isn't that the only thing you got to eat?"
"i didn't focus on what i was picking up. and if i leave it then that's a waste" He sighed and held his hand out. I smiled and handed it to him, softly kicking his leg under the table and then feeling him doing the same. "Oranges your favourite?"
"No, there not bad but I their not necessarily my favourite." He shrugs.
"Hmm, so what is your favourite?"
"Probably.. apples."
"Apples? That's so boring."
"Boring? Fine what's yours!"
"Pineapple." He looked like he was thinking for a second before lopsidedly smiling.
"Can I change mine?"
"Sure." I chuckled.
"Help!" Someone screeched making me head turn fast. It was Richie. "you gotta help me! Somebody please, in the basement here's a werewolf!"
His voice sounded so panicked it made a bad feeling swell in my chest though people just laughed at him like he was crazy.
I looked around our table to see their pity ridden faces that matched mine looking back. I stood up from my seat and walked over to the frightened boy.
"Richie." I whispered loud enough for him to hear and placing a hand in his shoulder that he flinched away from. Once he realised it was me he relaxed and allowed me to lead him to the table.
"I'm not crazy guys! It was there?" He said as I pushed on his houlders to get him in the seat.
And then I began to wonder weather the other night really wasn't a bad dream. And then I began to wonder if maybe Richie saw the same thing I had.
"Just calm down Richie okay?" I said softly , sitting back in my previous seat. We all stayed silent for the rest of lunch and we still didn't say anything when we were packing away for our next class. Until I broke it. "Listen, let's all meet somewhere tomorrow after school. i need to tell you all about something."
"Sure, but where?"
"We could go to the old train?" Stan suggested.
"I don't know where that is?"
"I'll come pick you up, kay?" He asks, I nod.
"dad?" i stop in my tracks making the others do the same.
"i thought that was you." he chuckled. "who are your friends?"
"um.. this is Stan, thats Bev, Bill, Eddie, Richie and Ben." i point out after a minute of awkward silence.
"nice to meet all of you." he smiles.
"mr rose." the principle says. "you can come in."
"thank you." he nods. "bye, baby. see you when you get home."
