"hey delilah!" i beam at my older sister. she glances at me and smiles though it's small and short lived.
"hi, Josie."
"do you wanna do something?" i ask, rocking back and forth with a tilt of my head.
"like what? i'm a bit busy." she told me, getting up from the couch and walking away to the kitchen.
"you don't look busy?" i ask, hoping to spend some time with my big sister.
"I'm watching TV, babe. How about we watch a movie later?" She asks. I smile and nod, skipping back to the play room and sitting down on the little, plastic chair.
"what did she say?" jane asks, hope sparkling in her eyes.
"she said later." i smile. "Where gonna watch a movie!"
"Eeeee! I'm so exited."
"Me too!" My smile grows bigger as picking up my crayon and running it a long the paper.
**
"do you think she'll like it?" Jane asks excitedly, her eyes scanning over the room. we've been setting it up for over an hour.
"uhu!" i nod repeatedly. "how could she not?"
suddenly we heard footsteps coming down the stairs and we both immediately jumped to our feet.
she rushed past the living room and too the door. we glanced at each other before walking over slightly.
"hi, one second i just need to go grab something and then we can go!" she said, the person says something a can't make out and then she's off.
i begin to walk over to the door when jane begins to whisper shout my name.
"hello?" i say. the boy at the door jumps and looks down at me.
"oh, hi." he smiles, bending down to my height. "what's your name?"
"my names Josie and that's Jane." i tell him, beckoning my shy twin over.
"hi." she whispers weakly.
"hi." he smiles as she grabs my arm and hides slightly behind me. "it's nice to meet you both."
"you too! what's your name?" i ask.
"stanley. but you can call me stan."
"stan?"
"mhm. that's what my friends call me." he tells us.
"so we're your friend?" i ask, my face lighting up.
"sure." he smiles at my reaction.
"how come your here?" i ask.
"um me and your sister are going out with a group of friends."
"oh. we were supposed to watch a movie."
"oh. i'm sorry, she never mentioned it."
"it's okay." i mutter.
"one day i'll get my sister to bring you over to my house? i have a ton of movies."
"do you have mary poppins?" jane asks, suddenly intrigued.
"no." he mutters sadly. "but i could get it?"
"really?"
"sure!"
"are you my sisters boyfriend?" i ask and his face flushes, eyes wide.
"uh- i. yeah, i am." stan chuckles in embarrassment.
"ew." my nose wrinkles and this time he genuinely laughs..
"josie! what are you doing?" Delilah shrieks, running towards us. "sorry stan."
"it's no problem. there cute-"
"girls? bath time!" tim shouts down the stairs. i stare up at Delilah.
"listen. if anyone asks you say i went out with a girl named beverly. right?" she asks.
(Tim knows but for the sake of this part he tries to get her to come home way earlier)
"but his names-"
"right?" she urges. i nod. "good."
she disappears out the door and runs of with the boy.
"we're going to lie?" Jane asks uncomfortably.
"i'll do it. you don't have to." i reassure. she nods before turning to the living room.
"so much for a movie."
"i know."
"she's too busy for us latley." jane sighs, crossing her arms.
"she's getting older."
"i know." she sighs in defeat.
"girls!?"
"coming tim!" i yell back. i turn away again and connect my hands with janes. "come on. it's all gonna be okay."
