Chapter 13

"Hey Viv" Jade said going into her friends room.

"Hey how's it going?"

"Good. I got a job".

"You did, where?"

"Target. It's not much but it pays some so I can help out my mom with things around the house".

"That's good, even though Laura probably hates it" Vivian laughed.

"Yea".

"When do you start?"

"My first shift is tomorrow".

"Look at you. Working, a boyfriend".

"Oh yea, my boyfriend".

"Why do you say it like that? Not going well?"

"It's going so well. He asked me to move in" Jade told her.

"Move in. You guys haven't been together long right?"

"No, not long at all".

"Do you want to move in with him?"

"Yes. Like really badly, but I don't want to leave my mom at home by herself".

"Yea I get that. Well what does she think?"

"I haven't talked to her about it yet. It's only been a couple days since he asked and I told him I would talk to her before making any final decisions".

"Ph okay. You should ask sooner or later. You don't want him to think you're getting cold feet about it".

"I know. I'll probably do it tonight when she gets back from the hospital".

"Okay".

"Yea so what about you how's classes and college life".

"Good. I've gotten into a routine so everything's a little bit easier and I've been hanging out with this guy, Dylan. He's really sweet and I think it's actually like a relationship because we haven't had sex yet, but we still hangout and text and call and all of that stuff. He just hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend yet".

"You like him?"

"Yea. He's hot first of all but also sweet and funny and kind".

"Well I'm sure he's going to ask you out soon. He clearly doesn't just want to sleep with you".

"Yea I really hope so".

Jade spent most of the day at Vivians since she hadn't seen her in a while. At around 6 she went home and cleaned and cooked while she waited for her mom to get back.

"Hey honey how was your day?" Laura asked putting a few grocery bags on the counter and Jade unloaded them.

"Good, how is he?"

"Okay. He's getting better but all the treatments still make him really weak and tired".

"Yea I bet. I talked to him yesterday, he said he'd rather be tired than sick so I'm trying to seem too worried about it".

"I get it. That's a lot harder for me".

"I know, I'm sorry mom" Jade said and Laura nodded "so uh I wanted to talk to you about something" Jade said.

"Yea".

"Christian asked me to move in with him".

"Move in, already?" Laura asked in shock "do you want to?"

"Yea I do, but I don't want to leave you here by yourself".

"Honey if you want to move in with him do it, just make sure it's what you want. Don't worry about me. I'm barely home anyways and when I am, I sleep".
