It was March 11th, and Mirabel had gotten home after another long but enjoyable day at work.
"Ah, Mirabel, how was work?" Rosa asked.
"Tedious but a lot of fun," Mirabel smiled.
"Good," Rosa smiled back. "Oh, look what came in the mail for you today." She handed Mirabel a mint green envelope.
Mirabel saw that this was decorated for St. Patrick's Day—and she saw that this letter was from Enrique. She opened the envelope to find a beautiful St. Patrick's Day card—one that she actually designed. "Wow, he sent me a card that I designed," she gaped. She opened the card and read the message out loud:
Querida Mirabel,
¿Cómo estás? Happy St. Patrick's Day! You know, this past month has been totally fun since I came to Butterfly Bay, but it got even better when I met you. That's why I want to do something special for St. Patrick's Day, albeit a bit late. How would you like to go on a belated St. Patrick's Day date with me at Patrick's Shamrock on the 18th? Call or text me when you can.
Con mucho amor,
Enrique
Mirabel was touched by this offer.
"Oh, he asked you on a date," Rosa smiled. "What do you say?"
"I'll go for it," Mirabel beamed.
Meanwhile, Enrique was just finished with work for the day, and he was just leaving when his cell phone rang. "Hello?" he answered. "Hola, Mirabel, what's up? Oh, you did? You would? Okay, I'll pick you up before 7 that day? Okay, I'll see you then." Then he hung up, and his conversation managed to catch his co-workers' ears.
"Was that Mirabel?" a woman asked.
"What did she say?" a man asked.
"She just received the St. Patrick's Day card I sent her, asking if she wanted to go on a date, and she said yes," Enrique beamed.
Everyone cheered loudly, happy that Enrique had scored a date with Mirabel.
"Dude, I'm so jealous," another man smiled. "You'd have to be lucky to make someone like Mirabel Ramirez fall in love with you."
"Who needs a shamrock when I'm lucky in love?" Enrique smiled.
Later that night, Lupe and Victor had come over. Lupe and Mirabel were up in the latter's bedroom, and when Mirabel told Lupe about her plans for next week, the sisters screamed in delight.
"Ay, Miraboo, words cannot describe how happy I am for you," Lupe beamed.
"Gracias, Lupe," Mirabel smiled.
"What are you going to wear?" Lupe asked.
"I'm not sure exactly," Mirabel replied. "I've looked through my green clothes, and none of them feel right. I'm not thinking about wearing something too fancy."
"Well, it's a good thing we're both off tomorrow because I think it's time to go shopping again," Lupe smiled.
"Okay," Mirabel smiled back.
The next day, Mirabel and Lupe went to the mall to shop for a good outfit for the former's date. Mirabel looked at many different green outfits, but the best one she'd picked out was an emerald green top with forest green pants, and she'd gotten a brand-new pair of black shoes.
