Chapter 4 ~The world from a new view~

I stare up at this funny-looking cat, his ears are folded, his fur is black and white, and one of his eyes were missing, "who are you?" I ask the fluffy cat, the cat looked at me, "Echo'paw," he said, "Cool name I'm-" I begin, I turn to mother, "Mom- what's my name again?" I ask, "Mud'kit," Mother laughed, "I'm Mud'kit!" I say confidently, "Echo! Come on it's time to train!" a ginger cat called from further away, Echo'paw got up and walked away. I sit down wrapping my tail around my legs, "he was kind of cute," Splattered said sitting beside me, "ewwwww! Splattered! Gross!" I say scrunching up my snout, I turn to see the she with an almost identical pelt to mine but her right leg is darker, "he's creepy," I say standing up, "whatever," Splattered said rolling her eyes, "girls, come lay down," Mother called, I scrunch up my snout a bit but pad over, "Mud'kit?" The pretty cat spoke up, "Yea?" I ask turning to the cat, "What are your opinions on cats calling you a she?" the cat asked, "It doesn't feel right to me..." I say sitting down, "Ember, do you think?" Mother asked looking in the direction of the pretty cat, "Possibly, Mud'kit, how would you feel if cats used, They or them to refer to you?" "I don't know- but it's worth a try!" I smile.

"Go play," Mother said, as she laid her head down, I run out into the camp and look around, "Thistle, you want to play tag?" I ask the white she, her legs fade into a brown, "not now Mud, I'm going with Dapple to talk with Juniper'Snow," Thistle replied, I look over to see Splattered talking to Echo'paw, I huff and sit down frustrated, everyone was doing their own thing and I was here alone, Soot'kit, Flaring'kit, and Amber'kit were listening to Night'Scar tell a story, Night'kit and Oak'kit are talking about becoming a warrior. I see Mitsuri'Blossom walk over to Mother and Ember'Star, she whispered something and Ember'Star got up and followed the she, I ignore it and just listen to the warriors talk. Soon a she walks out her coat a dusty blue-black color, behind her Moon'kit and some other kit talk as they follow. The kit was mainly black, but their tail faded into the dusty blue color like his mother, white dots speckle the kit's face, I felt awestruck, Moon'kit notices my stare, "Mud come here!" Moon invited, I got up and padded over, "h-hi," I stutter looking into the kits emerald eyes, "hi, I'm Twilight," they said a smile on their face, "Moon was just telling me about the clans, how is it living here?" they asked, "it's nice, the elders tell great stories, the warriors talk about love drama, and Ember'Star gives great advice," I smile as I walk with them, "whoa, cool," they replied, two large toms walked by, Lupus'Eye who's pelt looked like one of a wolf, and Flaming'Skys who's pelt was red as flames. "They're so big," Twilight marveled, "yep, that's Ember'Star's brother Flaming'Skys and his mate Lupus'Eye, they have to be the strongest cats ever!" I say standing up straight, Flaming'Skys looks back and laughs a bit, he then whispers something to Lupus'Eye causing him to turn his head, "Young love," he chuckled. I see Ember'Star begin to walk back to the nursery, "Oh what do you like being called? like he, she, or they," I ask, "I've heard a two-leg talk about that- they call them pronouns, but I preferer He/they, what about you?" Twilight asks, "They/them," I smile, "Twilight!" the dusty she calls, "Oh, my mother is calling, I'll see you around!" he smiled before padding off. I watch as Twilight sits next to his mother, "OoOoOoO someone has a crush," Oak'kit teased walking over, "what- no I don't-" I mutter, "Humph- if he hurts you, you can tell me!" Oak said puffing out his chest, "Or me, I don't think Oak will do anything-" Soot said walking up next to me. "I am worried about Splattered..." I mutter, the two look at me, "She's been hanging out with that weird apprentice- I see him sneaking out a lot-" I said glancing over at the two as they talked, "I don't get good energy from him..." Soot said glancing over as well, "Didn't he come from a two-legs nest? How bad can he be?" Oak said sitting down, "What are you guys talking about?" Night'kit asked, Amber'kit right beside him, "we're talking about, Echo'paw," Soot said as the two sat, "he gives me the creeps," Amber shivered. Thistle'kit, Dapple'Kit, and Flaring'Kit join the conversation as well, "I don't know why she's so interested in him-" Oak said, "who thinks we should keep an eye on the two of them?" Soot said, we all raised a paw in sync, "It has been decided, we will observe and gather information on Echo'paw and share our findings with each other, this is now the SPS, Splatter protective services, does everyone understand?" Soot asked looking around, everyone nodded, "I wish everyone the best of luck," Soot said as Tiger'paw walked over, "what are you kits doing?" she asked in a baby voice, I roll my eyes, "we are playing Clan!" Soot said making a quick lie, "Ah, alright then have fun," she smiled walking away, "the other must not find out..." Soot said his attitude changing back to stern and serious.
