Chapter 14 ~loss~

I sit by Oak as we talk about things, it has been a couple of moons since Soot became leader, "Mud, could you call patrols?" Soot asked, "Sure thing!" I smile getting up. "ALL WARRIORS AND THEIR APPRENTICES PLEASE GATHER FOR PATROLS!" I call out, "We need a herb patrol!" Thistle called, I nod as cats gather around, "Amber'Oak, Night'Dapple, Flaring'Orchid, and Moon'Lilly, you will be on herb patrol, report to Thistle'Winds, and Juniper'paw. Flaming'Skys, Wishing'Flames, Oak'Heart, and Oak'Stream you're hunting patrol, and finally, Twilight'Dawn, Venison'Spot, Lion'Fright, Guppy'Tail, and Frog'Pounce you will be border patrol. You all may head out now," I say as I watch the warriors leave camp with their apprentices.

"What a joke, Soot'Star only chose her because she's his sister," Guppy'Tail laughed as he walked next to Venison'Spot, I silently hiss as I listen to the cats disrespect my sweet Mud, "She's weak, I bet she'd cry at the smallest scratch," Frog'Pounce laughed joining in, "what are your thoughts Twilight'Dawn?"  Guppy'Tail asked turning to me, I tip my head, so the rim of my hat hid my eyes, I had stolen a hat and cuffs from a kittypet, "I don't think I've ever seen her blood spilled for this clan," Lion'Fright said with a huff, "maybe when we get back, we can change that, have a little 'accident'," Guppy'Tail smirked, "that doesn't sound like a bad idea," Venison'Spot smirked, I look up with rage, 'what in the name of Starclan did they just say...' I think to myself, "Doesn't that sound great Twi-" Guppy'Tail began, but I pinned him to the ground my tail thrashing, "You spill lies!" I hiss, "Mud'Cloud is more of a warrior than you will ever be! I've watched them tear their own skin off to try and save Ember'Star! I've seen them in the med den more times than any other cat because they fought so hard for this clan! They deserve to be deputy after everything they've been through!" I hiss digging my claws into the tom's pelt, the other toms back up a bit shocked, "I will never let you hurt them," I hiss, I put a paw into the tom's belly, and dig my claws into his skin. I don't remember anything, but all I know is when I came too, I was standing over Lion'Firght's dead body as I was covered in blood, I look around seeing Frog'Pounce, Venison'Spot, and Guppy'Tail were dead as well, I look at the ground mortified, "What have I done...?" I mutter, just as I was about to run to camp I'm pinned to the ground, I look up just in time to see Moon'Lilly, and then... 'crunch' everything went black...

"SOOT'STAR! MUD'CLOUD! THE BORDER PATROL!" Wishing'Flames yelled running into camp, I run over immediately, "What!?" I ask, "At the bridge!" She cried, I look to Soot who was now next to me, he nods, and I run out of camp. I stop on a rock, I look in horror as I see the bloodbath that happened, Moon'Lilly sits shaking, "Moon... what happened...?" I ask, she looks at me, her eyes widen, and she runs away, I look back and my eyes widen, "Twi..." I mutter, I see Twilight on the ground his neck is broken as he lies lifelessly by the bodies of Venison'Spot, Lion'Fright, Frog'Pounce, and Guppy'Tail. I feel my heart drop in my chest, "Mud, is everything alright?" Soot asked rushing over, my tail was tucked in between my legs, "Oh..." Soot said as he saw the sight, "Twi..." I mutter as tears wet the fur beneath my eyes, Soot dipped his head, "May his soul hunt with Starclan..." "Probably not Starclan..." a tom mumbled walking up next to me, "what?" I ask turning to see the Starclan cat from before, "he killed them... for you," he said sitting down, "Mud?" Soot asked, I look at Soot and then back, but the tom was gone, "he killed them..." I muttered looking at Twilight, "the blood on his paws..." I mutter. Soot looked up at the darkening sky, while we are at four trees..." he said dipping his head, "let me know when you're ready..." he muttered stepping back a bit. I lay down next to Twilight and start sobbing.
