Chapter 9

"Oh good, she's waking up." I opened my eyes. The bright light from the hospitals lights overwhelmed my eyes and I held them shut. I sat up rubbing my eyes adjusting them to the brightness. "Mei, how are you feeling?"

Me: "Fine?" I opened my eyes finally, looking up at the doctor. "Oh hello again Doctor Hana."

Doctor: "Haha, I do get to see you a lot, don't I?"

Me: "How'd I get here this time?"

Doctor: "Ah, you don't remember?" I shook my head. "Well, you did get stabbed. Luckily it wasn't anywhere vital."

Me: "Stabbed, huh. Wow..."

Doctor: "That's not surprising you?"

Me: "Not really, I just can't remember what it was from..." And then it hit me. Everything that went down Halloween. Kazutora almost defeating Mikey, then him stabbing Keisuke, I don't understand why Keisuke stabbed himself, he could've survived it if he didn't stab himself. "Can I go home?"

Doctor: "Yeah, you're set to be released today anyways so you're free to go. Your boyfriend dropped you off some clothes." She unhooked me from the machines and I got up and left to the bathroom. I quickly got dressed and looked in the mirror. My hair, was so short. I almost didn't recognize myself. I pulled up my shirt and looked at my wound, it was already starting to scar up. In the pocket of my pants I felt something in it. It was the charm, with a note saying "We'll watch over it together. -Mikey." I placed it back into my pocket and walked outside the bathroom.

Me: "Thanks for treating me, I'm am grateful."

Doctor: "It's no problem, let's be careful now!"

I walked outside the room and saw Mikey asleep in the chair next to the door. I shook him awake and he looked surprised to see me.

Mikey: "Hey Mei, what's up?" I couldn't say anything, I wanted to but my body forced me to stay quiet. "Uh, let's go.."

I had the most nervous feeling that I have ever had. I was so scared of going outside again, the possibility of being a target was scary. We got on his motorcycle and we drove home. Normally when we ride his motorcycle together, I hold onto him for extra safety, but I was scared to touch him so I held onto the seat. We pulled into the parking lot and got off. Not a word was spoken between us as I approached my door, I guess he needed something from my apartment because he was following me. I opened my door and turned on the light. Kenny, Mitsuya, Chifuyu, Emma, and my mom jumped out.

Everyone: "Happy birthday!" I ignored them and went into my bedroom locking the door behind me. I closed my window and lock it as well, closing my blinds so it was dark in my room. I against my wall and held myself tight. I heard a knock on my door but I didn't want to go answer.

Mikey: "Mei can I please come in?" I stayed silent, hoping he'd go away. "Mei, I wanna talk." I stood up and opened the door for him, he closed it behind him. I went into the bathroom and grabbed a pair a scissors.

Me: "You wanna help me even out my hair?"

Mikey: "Of course." I handed him the scissors and he started cutting my hair for me.

Me: "I'm sorry if I'm not pretty to you anymore, I kinda look like a little boy."

Mikey: "Well then you're the prettiest little boy- wait- that came out wrong- you're still the prettiest person I've ever seen, yeah that's the one."

Me: "Wow, Mikey that was weird.

Mikey: "Hey, you know what I meant." I started laughing which made him smile. "You know, you don't have to be such a downer. Baji is probably having a bitch fit setting cars on fire in heaven seeing you sad."
