The following chapters are heavily inspired by the ff "Dirty little traitor" from the author @KazuKazuyas. Amazing ff by the way I would absolutely recommend reading it!

✧Scaramouche pov✧

Lost in thought, I numbly started to the roof of the tent. It had a small hole that let the bright moonlight shine straight into my eyes. Even though it hurt, it felt like I was drawn to staring at it longer.
The stars that surrounded the moon with light looked absurd. They looked like small little replicates of the sun, though they didn't have enough power to show each and everyone their true shine. Most people don't even realize their existence.
Fate can be truly cruel.
It will always stay that way.

I wonder if Y/N feels the same way. Though after all she has experienced there is no doubt that she would deny that question.
She has changed an awful amount in the last few days. It has almost become astounding to see such an amount of human emotions coming from a mere puppet.
Being able to express and feel such useless things makes someone seem like they are like everyone else. Like they have nothing that defines them from others, but then there are people who are disgusted by the truth as soon as they know it. They look at you like you're some kind of monster or disappointment.
Do they think that I had a choice to become like this?
Though I wonder, how they would feel if they were in my position.
Not understanding human emotions and being unable to depart from this miserable life. That's exactly why I took an interest in Y/N.
I want to see how many human emotions she is able to express. It has already been an amusing sight to behold, seeing her kill that man. It's truly funny knowing that we are in some kind of way the same, yet so different in person.

A drop of rain fell through the hole of the tent onto my face, making me snap back from my current thoughts to reality. It began to pour outside. Almost making me feel bad for Y/N.
But luckily for her, there were some other shelter options apart from the tent. I let my head sink to the floor yet again. Lying down on the hard ground I let out a deep sigh.

When did I start to care so much about her?

"*!"

A loud scream echoed through my ear. My heart dropped after realizing whose voice it belonged to. As if my body was moving on its own, I hurried my way outside. Looking from left to right I tried to locate Y/N's presence, but she was nowhere to be seen. The whole area was pitch black while the heavy rain drenched both my hair and clothes wet.

I let my head fall to the back of my neck, pinching the bridge of my nose I let out a deep frustrated sigh

"SOLDIERS!"

I loudly spoke, summoning three Fatui guards' presence.
Even a Hillichurl would notice how tired they were. This was evident from the dark circles around her eyes. As soon as they wanted to bow to me, they all looked like they were about to collapse. It was a truly laughable sight to behold

"Y/N has disappeared"
Saying that very phrase made their tiered expansion turn into faces filled with horror
"My apologies my lord but what do you mean by 'disappeared'?"
Asked one of the guards with a noticeable nervous tone, while turning his head upwards to look at me.
I led out quite huff before continuing
"Exactly what I said, now go find her"
I demanded while pointing my finger forward one of the ways she could have gone.

They all nodded at the same time before running off to complete their given task. This incident was truly unexpected.
Did she run away by herself or did someone take her?

I ran my hand through my wet hair, so that it doesn't keep falling in my face and no longer distracts me.

Where could she have gone?
I asked myself before continuing to search the area by myself. There is no way these incompetent fools would be able to find her anyways. She might not be strong, but at least she is stronger than them, that's for sure.
So if she really had run off by herself there is much to no hope that they might find her.

After wandering around the campus for a bit longer I noticed a few traces on the floor. Some traces looked like Hillichurl ones and like normal Snezhnayn boots.
I let out a quiet laugh
"Did she refuse to follow one of my orders?!"
I continued to follow them in a hurry seeing that they get washed away easily by the heavy rain.
And after a few minutes had passed they stopped. The area looked like a huge mess.
There were hillichurl masks and blood traces distributed on the muddy floor.
I crouched to the ground while wiping blood off the floor with one of my finger it's smell and texture was still fresh so it couldn't have happened a long time ago. There is no doubt this must have something to do with Y/N's disappearance.

Analyzing the floor closely I noticed another pair of foot traces. Compared to Y/N's size they were slightly bigger.

Somebody helped her.
That must be it.
She didn't manage to kill all those Hilicurls by herself last time, so how on earth is she supposed to do it now?!
The only odd thing is, that there are no further traces

"SOLDIERS!"

I loudly exclaimed, summoning the same three soldiers from before
"Search the area!"
I demanded while biting the tip of my nail in frustration
"You shall not return to me until you have found something. Do I make myself clear?"
I asked, giving them an intimidating glare. They looked at me with fear, shivering from head to toe, one of them answered
"Yes, my lord!"
I turned my back to them. Covering my face with one of my hands I began to laugh

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND IT NOW Y/N?!"
"THINGS LIKE THESE WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DISOBEY MY ORDERS!"
"THIS WILL ONLY BE YOUR PUNISHMENT!"
"YOU WILL REGRET NOT FOLLOWING ONE OF MY ORDERS"

"Sir?"

I feminine voice asked from behind me. I whined my eyes, turning around in an instant
"What if she wouldn't return?"
It was a simple Cicin Mage, she nervously looked at me while playing with her fingers
"She will come back"
I answered with conviction

"But sir how could you be so sure-"
She continued with a nervous tone

I looked at her, anger washing over me
"I know her better than each and every one of you incompetent fools."
"I know what choices she will take"
The Mage parted her lips, about to continue her sentence before one of the other soldiers stopped her
"Now stop whining and continue your task, goddammit"
I cursed, returning back to my camp.

There is no way in hell I let that woman get in my way.
Then I will just have to finish the mission on my own.
