Chapter 14

Shesshomaru's POV
She seemed so innocent and pure. As if it were the day we met. Her voice was soothing. It brought back memories of us as children. I smiled, thinking back to when we were small, playing and doing all sorts of adventurous things.
She was weary of me though. To her, I was a stranger....someone she didn't know. And she was being awfully kind to me. She probably knew in her heart that I wasn't going to harm her,but she kept her suspicions. I can't blame her for feeling a bit uncomfortable.
It was like coaxing a wild animal. You had to take things slow and be calm, any sudden movements and you'd loose your chance. Patience was the main goal here...it was going to take time to adjust to her memory loss. That's why I'm going to fill her mind with visions of the past.
We sat on opposite sides of the room.
"Let's play a game..." I said softly
"I'm going to tell you a story of our child hood from the beginning,each story for as long as it takes to reach present day. And each time you will sit closer and closer to me. That way we can earn each other's trust."
She thought for a moment before agreeing to the play the game.
"You want to know how we met?"
"Yes..please..."
"It's a funny story actually....you and this little fox were traveling together. Her name is Eve and you were best friends. But your home got burned down so you came in my direction, looking for food. When you reached my castle, you found the food and stuffed your faces with it. To get in, you actually crawled under the boards. And when I found you...well actually you must have sensed me coming because when I got there, you turned around slowly. I told you that there was no need to steal and that you were welcome to say as long as you liked. You decided to stay.....and thats where our fates intertwine....."
She sat closer to me, as agreed.

Sonya's POV
Sesshomaru seemed nice enough. If that's how nice he was, then sure as heck I would like to know more.
I sat closer to him as I promised, listening to his stories. I was so intrigued about what he had to say. I was also deeply sorry that he had to tell me everything again. Loosing my memory made me feel empty and sad. There was a part of me that felt missing. Well my memory obviously, but it seems more than that. Like something had been there but it was gone. I kept fiddling with my wrist, I didn't know why, but it felt weird.
"And there was this time, we were walking in the woods and then all of a sudden...this HUGE bear demon pops out of nowhere." He emphasized with his arms.
It made me laugh how excited he was to tel this story.
"I turned to you....and....and...."
"And what!? Continue the story!"
"And you pushed me out of the way, taking the swing of the paw!"
"I did that!?"
"Yeah there's proof, look at you stomach."
I lifted my shirt half way, revealing three scars than ran across my abdomen. I was shocked. So that really happened........
"You used to feel insecure about your scars...." he said softly, pulling my hands down. "But I think scars make you strong...even if they aren't pretty."
Hearing this made me smile and that made him smile.
"I don't know why, but it feels like something's missing....." I mentioned
I then saw a twinkle around Shesshomaru's wrist. He noticed me staring at it.
"Who gave you that?"
He glanced at it with terrible sorrow and then to me.
"You did actually..."
"Me??"
"Ya I gave you a leather bracelet and in exchange you have me this sparkly silver one.....Ive never taken it off-wait where's yours?"
I looked down at my wrist and then I knew. The sensation I've been feeling. That something's missing. It was my bracelet.........
"You asked me if I.....liked it....." I blurted out of nowhere. I then looked up at Shesshomaru, his eyes were wide and his lip trembled
"And I told you that I......I....I..."
A smile was creeping up on his face, but soon faulted because of my lost memory. A pain struck through my head, as of someone hit me with a stick. My hand immediately went to my forehead as I lost consciousness.......

I woke up feeling a sharp pain strike my head. I squinted my eyes and gritted my teeth. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Lady Sonya......"
"Huh? Oh hi Eron.."
"You feeling alright?"
"Um, I guess....wheres Shesshomaru?"
"He had a meeting to get to."
"Oh........I see...." I said standing
"You're sure you are alright?"
"I can manage...."
He sighed picking me up bridal style and carrying me to my room. I felt a bit better when I was close to him. It was weird.
When I closed the door I went to the bathroom to bathe. My body shivered when the cold breeze hit my skin. Soon I was relaxing in the warm tub, with steam floating off the water.
"Why did I feel well in Eron's arms? It doesn't make any sense...." I thought to myself
Once I was done and dried off I walked outside, only to find Eron still waiting there. I bumped into him.
"Oh...sorry..."
"It's quite alright....Im the one who should be sorry.....you look, really pretty Lady Sonya...." he stuttered
His words made me feel warm and my face turned red. I looked at the ground, trying to cover it up.
"You know, I've been meaning to ask you...."
"Ask me what?"
"Well, I was wondering if you would go on a stroll with me....later this evening..."
I was speechless for a moment, I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to make the poor guy feel bad.
"Uhh, alright, but as long as I'm here before dark, then I guess it's ok."
I know Shesshomaru would want to tell me another story. And I'm 100% sure I want to hear it. I only said yes to be polite. The guy calls me 'Lady Sonya' for crying out loud! It's only gonna be for a little while anyways.
"Ok then I'll see you later this evening, farewell...Lady Sonya...." he said kissing the top of my hand.
I watched as he left. I felt bad that I didn't feel the same way about him. Though I would tell him in time, just not now.
As I turned, I was greeted by Shesshomaru.
"Hey Shesshomaru...." I said sheepishly
He just smiled down at me. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but I never got any audio.
He took my hand and on my finger, he placed a ring. It was adamant stone, it was so beautiful.
"Shesshomaru-I-it's so-I can't..."
"It's a gift, keep it....."
I looked up at his soft golden eyes, they were so gentle and warm. I knew in my hear that the two of us had been close.....
He then wrapped a golden locket around my neck.
"It's yours, don't worry.....it came off during your procedure."
"Was it....was it my parents?"
"Yes..."
Tears began welling up in my eyes. What kind of life did I live? He cares so much about me and I know that I probably did too. But I'm not the same person that he knew. I'm lost. My memories are gone and there's nothing I can do about it........I hate not remembering....remembering him, and everything we've probably been through. My heart longs for my memories......
"What wrong?"
"It's just...that I feel bad that..I can't remember anything...and it makes me feel lost. It makes me feel terrible that you have to suffer my losses." I sobbed
"Shhhhh.....don't worry about me, I'll be fine." he whispered, hugging me "You used to tell me that all the time, did you know that?"
I looked up at him and tears welled up in his eyes too. He was remembering the old me. The me that was gone, the me that would never return.
I wanted to embrace him a bit longer, but one of the council men called him into his study.
"I'll see you later Sonya...."
I nodded as I watched him leave. The council man waited for him to enter first before entering himself. He shot me a cold stare and entered the room. I shrugged it off and returned to my ring.
I liked how is sparkled in the light. It was in the shape of a heart.
"He probably really loved me...." I sighed

Eron came to get me right before sunset. The two of is walked arm in arm down to the lake. He said I looked really pretty with my necklace on.
We got into a boat and he rowed is out onto the middle of the lake. It was like the perfect time to have with someone you love.
To be completely honest, I don't love him. I barely know what love is, waking up with memory loss is like being born all over again. I don't want to be with him. Not in that way at least.
All of these thoughts began rolling through my head. Why? Why was I thinking all of these things? I was only hear out of kindness, not love.
We watched as the beautiful colors of the sun, were painted over by the darkness of night. And the stars started to rise, along with the moon. I felt like the moon was apart of my life in some way sometimes. It fascinated me in some way.
Then I felt a hand on mine. I looked up at Eron, he was lost in my eyes. I looked back down at his hand, he had a pretty familiar leather bracelet on. His hands moved higher up my arms and he pulled me closer. I soon felt the ring impulse. What!?

Shesshomaru's POV

What was taking her so long?!
"They sure are taking their time, aren't they Mioga."
"Well, it seems that Eron has Accumulated feelings for Lady Sonya and will stop at nothing to gain her affection."
This made my blood boil. What dose he know about her!? Nothing!? How could he fancy her! I don't understand, that isn't what love is based on!
"Well, I know a way to find her."
"How master Shesshomaru?"
"I gave her an enchanted ring, and I can see anything through the ring on this adamant stone."
"Brilliant master Shesshomaru!"
The two of us watched as we saw Eron placing his hands on her arms. She was looking directly at him, and then she was looking at his hand. As soon as my eyes followed the direction of hers, I saw what she was looking at. Eron was wearing her bracelet that I had given her so long ago. How did he get it!?

Sonya's POV
I began to have flashbacks the longer I stared at this bracelet.
"Here, so you'll always have me around."
"Thank you Shesshomaru!"
Wait!? That was me speaking with him just now! He gave me the bracelet Eron was wearing!
That's right! Eron! His hands moved down to my hips as he rubbed my rear. Alright, this was getting too weird! I've had enough! I stood up and punched him in the face and swatted his hands away from me, making him pull back in shock.
"Stop! Enough!" I screamed, standing up. My firery actions made the boat rock back and forth. "You lied to me! and I've had enough of this!!!" I yanked the bracelet off and dove into the water.
I paddled and paddled until I reached shore. when I turned , I saw Eron rowing back in my direction.
So I scurried out of the water and bolted towards the castle.
Luckily Shesshomaru was there to greet me at the castle gates.
"Sonya why are you soaking wet!!!"
"No reason!!" I said dashing through the castle and into my room. I set my things down and hurried over to the bathtub,closing the door behind me.
I stood there huffing and puffing. Geez I needed a breather.
"Sonya...." Shesshomaru called
"I'm in the bathroom....but uh don't come in."
"Don't worry I have no intensions of doing so, however I must ask you this...what happened between you and Eron?"
Why was he asking me this? And why does he care?
"Uhh, we went down to the lake and watched the sun go down." I muffled
"Then why were you soaking in water?"
"We fell in...."
"I see."

Shesshomaru's POV

I already knew what happened. Why couldn't she honest with me!? If only she could remember how we used tell each other everything.
I felt an impulse from somewhere....I turned and looked at the small table beside me. Mioga hopped up on the table and looked at me.
"You felt it too,Master Shesshomaru?"
I nodded
"What is it?"
"It seems that the bracelet you've given Lady Sonya senses your presence. maybe it's trying to tell you something."
I reached out my hand to take hold of it and I felt it's aura
"It's filled with the memories that you and Lady Sonya had together."
"What do you mean? Are you saying its going to leave forever!?"
"Uhhhh...well the bracelet appears to be made out of Kiro leather, the hide of a soul collector. It keeps memories of the one who wears it, though, those memories can only be held for so long without a soul. In time those memories will leave unless put back on the soul's wrist."
Should I put it around her wrist or what? Thump thump. the bracelet was impulsing again, but this time slower and fainter.
"Hurry Master Shesshomaru!"
