"Ella Stein?" The military drill instructor calls my name in a very stern and serious tone in his voice.

I step out of the line from where the other female soldiers are lined up and start walking toward the drill instructor. We salute each other as he then signals me to follow him down the hallway to the Chief's office. As I walk behind him, he looks over his shoulder at me with a cold and intimidating look on his face.

"How much trouble did you get into after your... incident?" He asks.

"Not a whole lot, surprisingly. But, I'm probably going to be transferring somewhere else or something." I let out a deep sigh as I look down a bit. I'm frustrated and upset at myself for what I did, but I had a reason to do it; I just hope I don't get kicked out of the military.

"Well, wherever you go, call me whenever you have free time." He says with a slight grin on his face.

"Will do," I say as I look up at him with a slight smile under my mask, as it fades afterward once we get to the Chief's office door.

"Good luck... you'll need it." He says as he walks off.

I watch as the drill instructor walks back down the hallway and heads back to the main room where the other soldiers are at. I look back at the door in front of me, as I take a deep breath in and out and knock on the door.

"Come in." A female voice says in the room.

I open the door and go inside the office, standing at attention while looking straight ahead.

"At ease." She says.

I look down to see her sitting at her desk with her hands together on the table. Her brunette hair is in a low ponytail and her ice-blue piercing eyes stare at me for a while. Her demeanor was solemn and held an unwavering air of someone deserving of high regard. Kate Laswell was someone who deserved respect from anyone and everyone.

The silence in the room continues for another thirty seconds until she finally says something.

"...I've looked over the report that General Shepherd emailed me about what you did during your mission last month."

She stays quiet as she looks at her computer and then back at me while letting out a disappointed sigh.

"Normally, I'd send soldiers that get in trouble back to their hometown and never return to the military."

She looks at me with sympathy in her eyes.

"But, considering your history and you're reasoning on why you did what you did, you've proven to me that you deserve to be here so, I'm giving you a second chance." She says with a slightly warm smile.

"T-Thank you, ma'am," I say with nervousness and relief.

"Don't go cheering just yet. Even though I'm giving you a second chance, you won't be in KorTac Faction with König anymore. Instead, you will be transferred to Task Force 141 and you will be working with Captain John Price and his team. Your position as Lieutenant will stay the same, except now, you have Lieutenant Ghost alongside you. How does that sound?" She looks at me with a bit of hope in her eyes.

It takes me a while to process everything, but I look at Laswell with a determined look and nod at her in agreement.

"I look forward to it, ma'am," I say with a calming tone in my voice.

"Great. Here's all the information you need to know about Task Force 141. Pack your belongings and meet near the helipad tonight at 20:00 sharp."

Laswell hands me a folder filled with a few papers and packets. I take it and before she lets go, she looks at me with her cold eyes.

"Don't disappoint me again. You're a strong kid and I am trusting you to make better choices in this force than you did in KorTac."

I nod at her as she lets go of the folder and continues filing more paperwork on her desk. She needed no more words to get her point across. I head to the door and before I leave, I can sense from her movement she stands up from her chair as she looks at me. I turn around to look at her.

"...Venom?" She says.

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Kick their asses, and make your dad proud."

Her cold face forms into a warm smile as her cheeks turn to blush pink. I stare at her for a few seconds as the expression on my face softens as I smile back at her under my mask.

For the past six years I've been in the military, she has made me into what any man would fear: the feminine face of valor and death. It was hard in the beginning, but the amount of support and courage that I got from both her and my father has helped me along the way and has made me become one of the strongest female soldiers out there. Although I made one mistake during my mission, I still owe all my successes and accomplishments to Laswell and my dad.

"Thank you for everything. I won't let you down." I say as I wave to her and leave her office.

As I walk down the hallway, heading back to my dorm, I let out a relieved sigh as I now walk into my next journey.
