*Jake's POV*

Today is Monday, the day of our first exam. Thankfully, today is a half day because there is going to be a parent teacher conference tonight. Class will be let out at 11:30. I feel really good about this exam for Government because of all the studying I did with Selena. Thinking of what happened with Selena, I sighed.

Why didn't she tell me? I didn't mean to be, but I was genuinely hurt that she didn't even tell me that she had found her mate... But it made it even worse that he was a total jerk to her! Once I find out who this guy is, he is SO going to get a piece of my mind!

I put my books into my locker and took out my government book. Placing the book in my book bag, I closed the locker and swung my book bag over my shoulder. I saw Selena already at her locker. I thought about approaching her, but after what happened yesterday, I figured I should give her a bit more space. I walked into the classroom and sat at my desk as usual. Class doesn't start for another 5 minutes so I pulled out my cell phone. I saw that I had gotten a group text from Colt.

"Hey guys! Don't forget that my birthday party is this weekend! It's going to be epic! See you all then!"

Man does this guy ever stop throwing parties?

Seeing as how Colt sent a group text, it made me think that Colt also invited humans as well. If he were just inviting werewolves, he would have simply mind-linked everyone. I clicked the recipients box to see who was included. I scrolled down the lists of names until one name caught my attention.

Ugh... he invited Trevor, of course! Not sure I even want to go now...

Trevor has been a constant annoyance for a while now. He used to like my sister... like intensely. I was about ready to knock him out and issue a restraining order. But he finally got the hint after a while that she wasn't interested. Ever since then, he has been fixated on Selena. Not sure that's any better really.

I locked my phone and put it back into my book bag right as Selena walked in and took her seat next to mine.

Honestly, I'm still kind of upset about what happened Saturday. But, I can't stay mad at Selena for long. I honestly don't know why I felt so hurt that she had found her mate. I want to say that it's because of the fact that she didn't even tell me, but I feel like it is a bit more than that...

I pulled out my notes and began to study.

"Hey, Jake."

I looked up to see Selena looking at me apologetically.

"Hey, what's up?" I responded.

"Nothing much... You ready for the test?"

"I think so. Since we studied a good bit Saturday."

We haven't talked about anything since that day. I wanted to say something when we were at the lake, but I really didn't feel like getting into it with her especially while we were simply having fun at the lake. She paused and looked down before she continued.

"Are you doing anything after school?"

"No, not really? Why?"

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go get some lunch with me? If you want to, of course."

I smiled, "Yeah, of course I would!"

She smiled back, "Ok good."

"But be thinking of where you want to go eat. I picked last time so it's your turn this time!"
