*Josh POV*
'I had to get out of there and get some air. That can't be my second chance mate. Brooke has to be out there somewhere... Maybe I'm just in denial..'
I was pacing back and forth until I heard a rustle. I turn to see Tyler Davis behind me.
"Hey, man. You scared me." I said.
"What are you doing out here?" He questioned as he walked closer to me.
"Oh nothing.."
"You can't lie to me, bro. You suck at it," he chuckled.
I smirked slightly. Tyler has been my best friend for as long as I could remember. Back in our old pack, he would have been my beta. I have a lot of trust in him and I don't trust people easily.
"Don't worry about it," I said, "I'll tell you later."
He cracked a smile in return and nodded his head.
"Okay, I'll hold you to that! But seriously, man, I'm here for you."
"Thanks. That's why you're such a great friend."
"Anytime," he said.
"Partially, because I don't think anyone could stand to be around you for more than two minutes. You should really loosen up and stop being so serious all the time" I joked sarcastically.
"Riiight," he said, "brought to you by Mr. Sunshine himself."
He motioned towards me with his hand.
"Thank you. Thank you. I try my best," I said, bowing playfully.
He chuckled and lightly pushed me back.
"Whatever, Josh," He said with a shake of his head.
"So, what are you doing out here?" I looked at him with mock suspicion.
"Maybe, I just came to check up on you!" he shrugged.
"I get it. You just can't get enough of me," I said, "now what's the real reason you're here?"
"I was taking a short cut to the diner for breakfast when I heard you pacing out here."
"Oh ok. Well, you should probably go enjoy that breakfast then! It's getting pretty late," I said.
"And you get back to class!" Tyler said teasingly as he walked away.
Once he was out of sight, I stood there in the silence for a few moments, staring at the ground.
"Ah, forget school," I mumbled aloud.
Taking a deep breath, I walked back to the pack house where I and the rest of the transfers are staying until initiation.
'Once I'm initiated, I'll finally be rid of them...'
*Selena POV*
While the bell rang at the end of school, I placed the last book I needed into my book bag, closed my locker and walked out of the school. As I walked through the door I was joined by Nicole. Soon after I heard someone jogging behind me.
"Selena!" I heard Jake call. I turned to face him as he slowed behind me.
"So, me and a few guys are going to go out to eat and I was wondering if you two wanted to join," he asked.
I pondered for a few seconds. Honestly, I would love to go with him, but after what happened today, I kinda just wanna go home.
"I would love to, but I have a lot homework today," I said.
