The Exception

Chapter 31

*Josh's POV*

Despite having worried most of the night, I managed to get some rest. I woke up at about 6 am and headed down to meet with everyone. Upon entering the room, I saw several people already waiting for Alpha Jordan. Scanning the room, my eyes met with Tyler who then made his way over towards me.

With a worried look, he genuinely asked, "Hey, are you doing alright?"

"I'll be fine once I go after Selena." I answered curtly. Although he was only trying to check on me, I simply had one thing on my mind. I can't let Aaron take away someone close to me. Not again.

As my eyes darted around the room, I noticed Nicole standing with two people who I assumed were her parents and Jake standing with his family and Selena's parents. Then there were a few other people present who I had never seen before. They seemed to carry a heavy presence which made me think they were most likely Alphas. Just as I was deep in thought, Alpha Jordan's voice caught my and everyone's attention.

"I won't keep you long as this is a rather urgent mission. I have contacted Alpha Smith's pack for their help as well as our neighboring pack run by Alpha David Korvin. We truly thank you for your support at this time." Alpha Jordan lightly nodded as Alpha Korvin nodded in response.

"So let's get to the plan," with one smooth motion, Alpha Jordan rolled out a map of our entire territory with both red and black marks indicating our battle positions.

Pointing to the map with his hand, he continued, "Alpha Smith and I will take our warriors to combat the fleet coming in from the western side. Alpha Korvin, I would like for you to be a back up to us. I don't want you to lose more lives than necessary."

Suddenly, Alpha Korvin spoke up in his Russian accent, "Alpha Jordan, please feel free to place us wherever you need us. Don't worry about the casualties. This Wielder poses a threat to all werewolves. We want to be able to help in any way possible."

The word "Wielder" disdainfully rolled off his tongue.

However, after a short pause, Alpha Jordan smiled lightly, "Thank you so much for your willingness to fight. In that case, I fear that we may be out flanked on the left side. If you don't mind positioning your men there, it would be a big help to us."

"Understood," Alpha Korvin replied.

"As we discussed last night, Jake and Josh will be heading off to apprehend Aaron and get Selena and Amy back."

"They're going alone?" This time, it was Tyler who spoke up.

"If you don't mind, Alpha, I'd like to go with them." Glancing over at Tyler, I could tell that he had no intention of taking no for an answer.

"Me too." Nicole also replied.

"And we want to go too," Colt spoke up on behalf of him and Levi.

His father reached out to grab Colt's arm as if to stop him but he shook his head, mouthing something I couldn't make out.

After a moment, Alpha Jordan continued, "I agree that they shouldn't go alone. I intended to send a small team along with them, but if you both wish to accompany them, I won't object. Though, you should be prepared for a tough battle."

"I understand the risks Alpha. We will help bring them both back safely."

"And the same goes for me. I am willing to help fight," Nicole added onto Tyler's statement.

"So it's settled then. Does any body have any questions?"

Again, Alpha Korvin interjected, "If you need some more warriors to accompany those going to apprehend the Wielder, I can send some of my men with them."
