Part 14

~Lyra's POV~

"Good morning" I say softly to Techno, who had just walked down the ramp of the ship and onto the island sand.

"Morning" he smiles, looking at the flower from yesterday in my hand.

"We need to find fresh water for that." Puffy nods to the flower.

I look at the cup in my hand and pour the tea in it out.

"What was that for?" Techno asks, stepping back to avoid getting tea on his boots.

"We can use this as a vase." I shrug, putting the flower back behind my ear.

As we start walking, Techno walks directly next to me. I felt safe near him. Whenever he was near, I felt butterflies in my stomach and I always blushed.

But I didn't feel anything more than how I feel towards Puffy or Atlas or any of my other friends. We were just friends.

"Here" Techno walks off the clearance and towards a small stream.

Puffy grabbed my arm and held me back.

"What?" I ask, rubbing my arm.

"I'll leave you two alone." she nudges me and smiles.

"What does that mean?" I ask, furrowing my brows.

"You'll see" she starts walking away.

"Puffy!" I yell after her, confused.

"Lyra? You coming?" Techno asks, looking back at me.

"Yeah" I smile and walk towards him.

I fill the cup with water and take the flower out of my hair. I put it in the water and smile.

"Pretty" he hums, admiring the flower.

"Mhm" I look at him and smile.

"What are we doing today?" he asks, standing up.

"We're probably leaving today..." I feel my mood drop, thinking about the next mission.

"You alright?" he asks softly, looking at me.

"Hm? Yeah. I'm fine." I smile and nod.

I hop to a rock in the middle of the stream. I balance and smile.

"What was that for?" Techno chuckles, following me on land as I hop to the next rock.

"For fun. Probably won't be here ever again, gotta make the most of it." I shrug, picking up a shiny crystal at the bottom of the water.

"What's that?" Techno asks as I clean the dirt off of it.

"A ruby" I smile brightly, rolling the ruby around in my hand.

"It's very pretty." he says.

"It is. You can have it." I place it in his hand.

"You sure?" he asks, looking at the stone.

"Positive. Red is your favorite color, isn't it?" I ask, smiling and stepping onto the next stone.

He just stares at me, fidgeting with the ruby and smiling.

"What?" I chuckle, turning around.

"Nothing. Just thinking." he continues to smile and catches up to me.

"About?" I ask, looking at him.

"Stuff" he shrugs, making eye contact.

"Okay" I say, dragging out the 'kay' and hopping to the next rock.

"We should head back soon" I sigh.

"Alright." he extends his hand and I take it.

He pulls me to land and smiles at me. I grab the cup and we start walking to the clearance and I'm still smiling. I realize I was still holding his hand and I blushed. He didn't seem to notice, so I didn't let go.

Eventually, he let go. But we were right by the ship.

"There you guys are!" Puffy walks off the ship and towards us.

"Here we are." I chuckle, smiling.

We all walk onto the ship. As the crew starts to pull the ramp up, my heart drops.

"You ok?" Techno asks, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm fine. Why?" I mumble, my vision blurring.

"You're picking at your cuticle. You're gonna bleed." He frowns, gestures towards my hands.

"Oh sorry." I mumble, putting my hands in my pockets.

"You don't have to apologize." he smiles softly.

I watch the crew pull the anchor up, and before I knew it, we were sailing again. I prayed that Jasper changed his mind, going somewhere else. But once again, time began to stop and my heart fell to the floor when we circled the island and went back towards Techno's land.
