I wake up to my alarm. I turn it off and start to look for clothes that are gonna cover up these heavy nasty looking bruises. After finding a long sleeve shirt and some baggy pants I throw on my converse and head downstairs. Saying a quick hi-bye to my parents which earned a "shh" and a "I'm busy." Aren't I just so lucky to have parents like them? I walk to school. Not being late this time I actually took my time. "Good morning Eden!" The lady at the front desk says. "Morning!" I smile. It's fake obviously, all I can think about right now is my aching body and my killer headache as I walk to my locker. "Hey Eden. How are you?" I hear Billies familiar voice flood my ears. "I'm fine." I whisper not turning to face her. "No you're not Eden. What's wrong?" Billie asked, her voice laced with concern. "Bill, I'm fine seriously drop it." I say while rolling my eyes, more and more kids flood the halls making my aching head worse, I wince and all of the noise. "Do you have a headache? You should go to the nurse." Billie says concerned. "No Bill. If I go to the nurse they'll tell my parents. I'm not going." I shrug as I go to walk away from her. "Why can't your parents know Eden?" Billie asks as she reaches out and grabs my arm, trying to pull me back to her.

"Ow!" I yell as I turn to face her, wincing in pain."Fuck, seriously Billie?" I ask her, noticing that everyone in the hall is now staring at me.  "Wh- I- I didn't mean to-" Billie says, trying to find the words.

"Just- leave me alone." I say as I walk away. I don't care if I'm the first one in class I don't wanna be near Billie right now.

Billies pov

"I don't know what happened. She was all cuddled up on me last night and then left in a panic. And then all that happened in the hall? It just doesn't add up you know? I thought I was actually getting somewhere with her, breaking some of her walls down." I say, sitting at the lunch table with my friends, Zoe, Drew, Dominic and Lucas.

"Well Billie..It sounds like she's got some shit going on at home." Zoe shrugged.

"You're better than damaged goods Bill." Lucas adds.

"Wh- she's not damaged goods for fucks sake.  I see right past her little act, she just needs someone with patience." I say, trying to keep my cool.

"Billie. You're gonna get yourself hurt. What if she's not even a lesbian?" Drew sighed.

"Look I'm not saying I want to date her or anything! She's just a human that needs help. She needs attention." I say, getting impatient.

"Did she ask for help? Dominic questioned.

"Well..No." I shrug.

"Then drop it Bill. Drew is right, you're gonna get yourself hurt." Lucas sighed.

"How? How am I gonna get hurt?" How can wanting to help someone hurt me?

"Because you're gonna get attached to her and when she finally tells you she doesn't want your help it's gonna shatter you Bill." Lucas said.

"We're only looking out for you." Zoe said.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes.

"You can use this extra time to work on your project." The Home Ec teacher announced. Eden hasn't even looked at me all day. I'm worried about her. "Money or fame?" I ask her, reading off of the pamphlet.

"Neither." She sighed, not looking up from her notebook that she was scribbling in.

"Okay..Why?"

"I like things to be simple. I want time and fame takes that away." She said quietly.

"So..What about money? Wouldn't money fix the time thing?"

"Were you even listening Billie? I. Like. Things. To. Be. Simple." She said, slowing announcing the words. Every time she said a word she slammed her pencil against the notebook. I flinch at her action.
