Judging

I've given you the rules and prizes to be won, but I haven't given you any details on what you'll be judged on/who will be judging, so here goes:

Who's judging?

The judge will be solely me

What will you be judging on?

A number of things such as:

The quality of your written work (e.g. grammar, use of correct tenses, well edited)

The amount of creativity that has gone into your work, such as how you've incorporated the theme of "loss;" the storyline and setting etc.
In order to score bonus points, I would encourage you to not go for the obvious ways that you could incorporate the theme e.g simply someone dying. That being said, if the more obvious avenues are explored (such as someone dying as mentioned), but the ending is "wow," then you need not worry about it. At the end of the day, it's up to you how you do it, I'm sure I'll like it :)

Surprises. I like books that have huge twists in them (believable twists); if the ending keeps me on my toes and isn't what I expected at all then that's brilliant.

Try to convey as much emotion as possible into your entry piece. I love to read sad books (morbid, I know) that touch your heart in a gentle but meaningful way - but try not to overdo it and make it into something ridiculously dramatic.

Tip: To achieve this tone, perhaps use emotive words but I would avoid repetition of words/phrases or thoughts and ideas.

Finally, present your writing style at its finest. Everyone has a unique way of writing and I'd love to see that projected into your works. Just "be you" so to speak. Say things how you want to say them, write things as you want to write them.

If you need help at all, in my "Stories" reading list, there's a book called "Writer's Guide" by @Disco_Dust. It's absolutely amazing at giving out simple yet effective and understandable tips that can help you to transform your work.

Any last messages?

Have fun! If you're really competitive like me, then try to use it to your advantage and don't get too bogged down by the experience.

That's it for now. I look forward to reading your entries!
