💐 Prologue

It's like the universe hates me. Just on the day when I have to be on time, everything goes wrong.

"Mommy, it's no good." My six year old daughter stated as she tries swallowing the burnt toast.

"I'm so so sorry,. Don't eat that. I'll give you cereal and milk. Wait." I said.

I am so close to having a mental breakdown. For years, handling work, looking after my beautiful daughter, doing mostly everything on my own has been very difficult. I can't count how many times I cried in the past years. Being a mother is hard, being a single mother is even harder..

"Mommy, can we have pizza for dinner?"

"Ri, we are just starting the day. We'll see later tonight." I chuckled.

"Please please Mommy." Ri said as she makes the puppy eyes.

She knows I'm weak for this.

"Okay, but only if you promise to be a good girl, and complete all your homework when you come back home and eat all your fruits." I said.

"Yes yes promise." I smile before placing a peck on her cheek.

"I'll go do my hair, eat your breakfast, then we'll leave." I hear her sing an 'okay' as I rushed upstairs.

I was 21 years old when I had Riana. Although, the circumstances at that time, when she was placed in my arm, despite the pain, I found myself smiling and crying the tears of joy. For the last six years, she has been the sole reason why I became who I am today.

Everyone said, I should probably give her up for adoption, or find a husband. Why would I? Did they think I wouldn't be able to look after my daughter by myself?

The situation of my life might have been challenging, it might have broke me but it wasn't an excuse for me to leave my daughter. She was the one who taught me to love again, she brought the happiness in my life again. I was able to smile again because of her so why would I abandon her. She was, is my responsibility and I knew if Riana left me, I'd be just a body that breathes, but is actually lifeless.

The thought of being away from her scares me to death. The moment I held her in my arms, I knew that if I wasn't already, I was going to make me capable of looking after and bringing her up well.

"Bye bye." I watch as Riana walks away, inside her school.

She turns to wave at me and I smile at her cuteness. No matter how bad the day starts, at the end of the day Ri and I had each other.

As soon as Ri disappears from my view, I rush to get the bus to work. I knew I was going to be late today the moment I missed two alarms. This rarely happens, but the stress of work kept me awake last night, I couldn't sleep.

"I am so happy to announce that your new Chief Executive Officer would be none other than the young and very famous man, yes yes I know you've probably heard the rumours here and there, Mr Jeon Jungkook, brought big changes in our Seoul branch, got us the biggest deals and made us one of the company with the highest revenue in South Korea. Please, let's all welcome, the new CEO, Mr Jeon Jungkook."

Loud cheers echoed, whispers of how handsome the new CEO is could be heard and I scoffed. A new CEO, new rules, new changes, new everything and new stress.

"Looking forward to work with you all." He said.

That's it? Your the new CEO and that's the only thing you have to say?

I rolled my eyes.

"Control your expression." Mila, my colleague said. " You seem so happy to see  newly appointed CEO."

"I'm trying." I replied.

As the big announcement ended, everyone moved forward and congratulated the new CEO while I walked backwards and as soon as people started leaving the room, I joined the crowd and left as well.

But,the joy of being away from facing my new Boss was cut short as my telephone rings in my office.

"Hello!"

"Y/N, we are waiting for you." My old Boss, Mr Jeon Hyunwoo said.

"I'll be there in a minute." I said and he hanged up.

Great. So much for trying to avoid the man.
