(Cats pov)
I wake up in a tent alone again since Daryl decided to move away from the group. I stay cuddling Aider for a while and then feed her before heading out to the group her following my lead.

"Cat do you know how to make a fire?" Carl asks as he's sitting next to his mother

"Yeah, you wanna learn?" I ask him

"Can I?" The boy asks his mother who looks at me I just shrug my shoulders and then she nods so I quickly show him the two ways I know and then put some beans in a pot and show him how to cook them which had him smiling from ear to ear, we cook them for the group before we split up

"Hey" I hear ricks voice

"You alright?" I ask as I turn around

"Yeah, thanks for what you're doing with Carl" he thanks me and I'm taken aback by how nice he's being to me

"Nah it's alright it's good he wants to learn" I reply just shrugging my shoulders

"How you doing?" He asks

"I'm fine, you?" I respond and he puts a hand on my shoulder

"I didn't just lose my brother" he says and my eyes hit the floor

"He wouldn't want me to be sad, I'm trying not to think about it gotta keep myself busy" I tell him

"He was a good guy Cat, he adored you" he says and I just nod walking off into the woods alone

I hear heavy messy footsteps branches snapping and leaves crunching below the footsteps so I turn to my left to see a Walker snapping it's jaws it's weak arms reaching towards me, I let out a small laugh

"Five outta ten" I mutter before slicing its head off the rest of its body thuds as it hits the floor.

I continue to walk through the woods when I hear a yelp so I instantly run in the direction crunching leaves as I run and see Carl running away from a Walker he trips and fall the Walker falling down with him so I quickly grab the walkers shirt pulling it away from the crying boy before sliding the sword through its head.

"What are you doing?" I snap as I look at the young boy

"I just-" he starts

"You just what Carl? You need to stop this, you can't just put your life in danger" I tell the boy

"I have a knife I can defend myself" he defends

"That doesn't look like defending yourself" I state as I point at the ground which he's now gotten up from

"I thought I could do it" he states to which I roll my eyes as we start heading back to the camp

"Your life is worth so much more than you thinkin' you're a big man Carl, you're still a child, you gotta lot to learn. You want to go out you come to me and we can go out together I'll
Keep you safe" I tell him and he just nods

"Don't tell my parents please" he pleads

"Carl" I start

"Cat please" he interrupts

"Carl I'm not annoyed at you I just want you to be safe, your mom and dad would be devastated if you died" I tell him

"I know," he nods "I'm sorry about your brother" he says looking up at me

"I'm sorry about Sophia I know you two were close, I'm sorry I didn't bring her back" I tell him

"It's not your fault" he says and I just nod and then we reach the group

"Let's gather up" I hear Rick say

"Come on, Carl. I want you to stay with Jimmy" Lori tells her son as everyone starts to head into the house
