Aragon's knights were baffled seeing their Lord suddenly wanted to go visit a dilapted and poor managed orphanage.

"What are we doing here my Lord?" Razan asked.

They've only stayed in Aragon territory for a month but suddenly the Lord wanted to come to this bordering city that wasn't too well managed.

"I want to adopt a daughter," Hileo replied nonchalantly.

"???" 😕

"!?" 😲

"....." 😐😑

The expressions of the knight were varied but most of them were either dumbfounded, confused or a mixture of both.

"Did I heard correctly? Adopt a daughter? My Lord wanted to adopt a daughter?"

"Hey, tell that butler Steven to advice my Lord against this. Having a daughter is different from a pet."

"Why didn't Steven say anything?"

Steven whose name was being mentioned didn't pay any heed to any of the voices but instead said, "If the Lord said so then I will proceed with the appropriate procedure. Miss, can you show us the girls here in the orphanage?"

"Steven, what are you doing?! You should advice the Lord to not do it," Razan was furious.

He didn't actually care about the orphans but he didn't want his Lord to have a weakness that his enemy could utilize to hurt him like a daughter.

The other knights also agreed with Razan but for different reasons. They just thought Hileo was bored with the pets he had and wanted a new kind of pet: Human.

Zephyros Empire had made slavery illegal since long time ago and the current emperor was even stricter about the regulation thus if it was known that Count Hileo Aragon had a human pet, even the emperor who always turn a blind eye to whatever he did, would get angry.

"Don't worry. I know my limit. I'm not taking her as a pet but a genuine daughter, a family," Hileo said calmly.

None of them know what to say anymore and Steven already went inside the orphanage by himself since when when the Lord came in, all the kids immediately cried as if they have seen ghost in broad daylight.

They all know why the kids reacted like that and couldn't help but felt either helpless or awkward.

Hileo Aragon, the man that could make kids cry even when he did nothing. It was weird but it's a fact almost everyone knew. So that was why, during the war victory celebration, there were no kids under the age of twelve being in the area where Hileo could be seen in order to make sure the ceremony remain undisturbed and went on smoothly until the end.

That was why Hileo pushed Steven to go inside instead.

"My Lord, here she is. She's nine months old and they still didn't give her any name. They found her when she was just a month old. Her parents abandoned her at the river stream and she was found by one of the worker here."

Steven came out, holding a small, pale baby with white hair and red eyes. She looked like a copy of Hileo but cuter and not as overbearing.

"White hair."

"She looks like a mini Hileo," one female knight said.

They knew Hileo didn't care much about etiquette thus they dare to say much of everything a along as it wasn't disrespectful.

"I'll adopt her," he said.

"My Lord, raising a child isn't like raising pets," said Alliot Warrence the vice general who was also the Captain of the Aragon first knight brigade.
