"Settle down now, class. Settle down." Hideki-sensei exclaimed. Mina sighed in relief and silently thanked their teacher. She was getting very annoyed by her fans who were asking about her days off and other personal questions. If Hideki-sensei hadn't come in, the fans may have become victims to the newest technique Mina had been working on. The phoenix flower jutsu. The scrolls her papa sent had been very useful to her. The fans surrounding her desk huffed sadly and went back to their seats. Though Mina ignored her desk mate's annoyed mumbling, she knew Mirai had been enjoying her suffering. That goober.
"Listen up, I have an announcement." The sternness in the man's voice gained the students full attention. A small smile raised on the man's lips.
"We will be taking a field trip to Kirigakure to add to our studies of water style jutsus and kenjutsu techniques. You all will also be split into groups of three and have a student from their ninja academy as an escort." The man's eyes scanned over the children for a moment, before he continued. "You all must be on your best behavior as we are their guests. Please get this permission slip signed by a parent or guardian before next Monday. The trip will be three days long."

"Thank you." Mina said gratefully, as Sakura set a plate of dinner in front of her. Sarada mimicked her when a plate was placed in front of her and the girls waited until the woman had sat and prayed to start eating.
"How was school today, Mi-chan?" Sakura asked, initiating a conversation.
"It was good. We learned about famous shinobi who used water style jutsus. Oh!" Mina stood up, retrieved her permission form from her hanging bag, and went back to the table. She passed the form to Sakura, who took it with delicate hands.
"Next Monday, my class is going to Kirigakure." The woman nodded and read over the form. Sarada leaned out of her chair to try and read it over her shoulder. She only succeeded when the woman tilted her hands downward in the young girl's direction.
"I see. I will sign it after dinner. I've actually met a few shinobi from Kirigakure when I was younger. In fact on my first C rank mission, it became an A rank mission since the ninja targeting our escort was an rank rogue Kiri nin." Sakura explained, setting the form beside her on the table. While Mina looked amazed at this information, but Sarada frowned.
"What is a rogue nin and what does Kiri mean?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
"Kiri is the shortened name of Kirigakure which is the Village Hidden in the Mist. A rogue nin is a ninja who deserted their village." The purple eyed girl nodded along with her mother's response.
"Don't worry, little sister. You'll learn all this stuff when you enter the academy."
"Oh. Okay." Having lost all interest, She turned back to her food and continued eating.
"So, have you learned how to do any water style jutsus, Mi-chan?" Sakura inquired, curiously. Mina's lip turned down as she slumped a bit in her chair.
"Yeah, Hideki-sensei showed us how to do the signs and execute the technique, but I wasn't able to do it since I have a fire affinity. Actually a lot of my classmates couldn't either." the woman hummed in response and began talking about her own experience in the academy.

Later that evening, Mina sat at her desk in her room, one of her feet was on her chair and her head rested delicately on top of it. She stared blankly at the paper in front of her trying to decided what to write, before a sigh of defeat left her. She might as well just tell him how her dad went, but reading his last letter, she wanted to write something super cool.
Her papa's summoning snake sat neatly on her desk beside the paper resting its head on its small body. It's small beady eyes watched her in content as she made no move to write. As if noticing its questioning gaze, Mina turned to it.
"I'm not sure what to say, Aryu-san." She mumbled. The snake lifted its head and wagged its tail almost like a dog.
"Sssssasuke-ssama enjoysss all your letterssss, Mina-sama. Thissss one he will ssssurely enjoy asss well~" Mina hummed in response to its comforting words and smiled.
"Yeah, you're right."
*********
Sasuke's lips upturned at the sight of his snake summoning coming toward his sitting form. He had just finished fighting a rogue ninja and needed some serotonin. He nodded his thanks toward the creature who promptly disappeared into a cloud of smoke. Unfolding the paper, he was greeted by two messy drawings. From what he could make out, Mina had drawn him, Sakura, Sarada, and herself on a blanket in a forest, like a family picnic. He also noticed a roughly drawn cloud in the sky with two stick figures, It made his eyes soften and his smile to unconsciously widen. His head tilted in happiness when he saw another drawing from Sarada, this one being just a bunch of scribbles, but that was okay. He would treasure it all the same.
Along side the drawings was two letters, one with messy kanji and another neatly written from his wife. As he read the letters, he felt a sense of happiness, but also longing. How he wished to be with his family, though for now, the letters were enough for him.
Author-chan's Fun Fact: Mina almost frowned when she saw a picture of Kisame in class, but then remembered not to judge because everyone is beautiful just the way they are <3.
