Tap. Tap. Tap.
Mina looked up at her window to see her black messenger crow alerting her of its presence. It was her day off and she was working on writing a report for her last mission. She opened the window, allowing the crow to fly to her shoulder, before taking the letter from the bird and going outside to read it. She wanted to take a break anyway.
Mina,
Congratulations on becoming a Jounin. I'm very proud of you even if your other teammates didn't join you in this promotion. I never did officially become a Jounin even though I am at the level of Kage. I enjoyed looking at the pictures that Sakura added to the last letter as well.
Mina vaguely remembered her mom asking to send a few pictures to her dad in the letter she had been writing. One was a picture that was taken just as the girl won her fight against one of the villages Jounin. Her hand was outstretched in a punch, a few scratches and burns littering her body, and her three tomoe Sharingan was blazing, but the look of determination was what made the picture worth keeping. The second picture was of all three girls: Mina stood wearing her new green flak jacket with Sarada being held in such a way that she looked as though she'd fall out of the older girl's arms. Mina was smiling, while Sarada dawned a face of pure laughter, mouth wide open and preserved mid giggle, yet even without the sound, you could still see her joy. Next to the sisters stood Sakura. The pink-haired woman had one hand on her hip, looking at the girls who were having the time of their lives with a fond smile on her lips. The Uchiha family all posed in front of the red Hokage building.
I'd also like to apologise for taking some three weeks to reply as my mission made me unable to. Regardless, in a few days, I will be meeting up with Naruto at Ridge Tower. I'd like you to go with him when we meet up because I have something to give you that I found on my journey as well as some information and technique scrolls I'd like to pass along to you. I've already sent a note to Naruto saying I'd like you to join as well. I look forward to seeing you again and please give Sakura the note addressed to her that I added as well.
Dad
After she read the letter, Mina heard her mom and sister talking in a sort of stand off-ish way. The thirteen, almost fourteen-year-old was about to ask what was going on when the older woman punched the ground in her anger, making the entire house collapse along with the surrounding terrain. Mina ran over just in time to catch the fainting woman before turning toward Sarada who had a look of guilt on her pale face.
"What happened, Sarada?" Mina asked, placing a hand on Sakura's forehead to check for a fever.
"I-I was just asking about papa and she got upset!" she defended, albeit weakly. Mina pursed her lips, before nodding.
"Alright. I'll take her to the hospital. Please look around the wreckage for anything important that may have been buried." The older girl pulled the unconscious woman onto her back and turned her head slightly. "Refrain from talking about Dad to Mom, please. This is hard for her too." Sarada frowned, sadness plaguing her dark eyes.
"Nee-chan-" A flurry of crows blocked the girl's onyx vision and when they cleared, her beloved older sister was nowhere to be seen. "I'm sorry."
********
Minako followed behind the blonde Hokage obediently before she stiffened.
"Uncle-"
"I know." The two quickly disappeared.
********
In the nick of time, Naruto appeared near Chocho Akimichi and deflected what would have been a killing blow.
