Runaway Horse

~~ Chapter Nine ~~

I woke up about 7:35 and got up. I didn't have time to take a shower so I brushed my hair and teeth put my closthes on then I gave Cali and Clover their food and water and I eat a banana. I finally got to the barn and got Sun out. That's Sunstrucks nick name. I put his bright green halter and lead on and walked him to the cross ties. I got his western saddle pad and saddle. I let him sniff that saddle and the saddle pad. Once he got used to it I slowly slid it on. He looked at it and just stood there. So I gave him a price of apple for being good. So I put his bridle (hackamore). I ped him to the arena and got the mounting block. I put pressure on his back and he took of bucking trying to get the saddle off but he can't. So for about ten minutes he just runs around bucking and rearing. I finally got him to calm down and I untacked him and brushed and hosed him down. When i left him to dry I mucked out his stall and put fresh straw in. I went and go Sun and brought him back to his stall. After I had mucked and put fresh straw in all of the stalls I feed. After I feed I go to Rum and get him. I know he uz already trained because Tanner told me but I want to ride him. I set up the barrels and I go get Rum. I get on and I turn him to the barrels and walk and trot acouple patterns to warm him up. After I warmed him up I face the barrels. I give him a kick and smooch then he's off like a bullet. We round first with a good fast turn and run to second. After we turn second and third we rin home. Just as I got to the gate he spook and turns and I fly off. I look what spooked him and see a rattle snake. I gasp and run to Rum. He's limping. I check his legs and the left front leg is swollen. It bit him. I let a few tears escape. I call the vet. About thirty minutes the vet gets here and examines Rum. Well have to put him down. So I grab him and slowly walk him to a willow where a backhoe is waiting with a hole already dug. The vet gets his stuff ready and inserts the shot. I feel Rum start to get tired and I look at him while silently crying. He then suddenly fall over and we put him in the whole and cover him up. I go back to my cabin and Cali is asleep and Clover is sitting on the couch. I give them food and water and I take a shower. When I get out u brush my hair and teeth and go to bed. I stay up for about two hours thinking of Rum. Thwn I finnaly go to sleep.
