I talked to my aunt, and she agreed. I didn't tell her about the clip, and we hid it somewhere no one could see. I only said to her that we had received a tip that there was someone following my mom.
I couldn't ruin my aunt's plan, especially since she was trying to find the culprit. She has lots of connections, and I'm hoping she will see him soon.
I went back to IdR and walked to the parking lot. I saw a lot of Bugatti La Voiture Noire, but most were pure red and pure black. The murderer's car was red and black.
I returned to our room, but it wasn't locked. Becky never left the room unlocked because of what happened last time. I entered the room only to see a note.
'Heng, Non, and I are attending a meeting. Ensure that the door is unlocked because I don't know what time I will be back. Leave the door open, okay? Please, don't be mad if I come back late. Most students do this, you know, escaping at night, and I am not alone. Email me if you're not staying tonight.'
Meeting with Heng and Non? She was not part of the council. She always wanted the door locked, and I told her that I would be the one to text her if I returned tonight.
Bullshit. Something's not right.
I dialed Heng's number, and he quickly picked it up.
"Heng? Are you with Becky a while ago? Or right now?" I asked worriedly while biting my lips in nervousness.
"No. I didn't see her today."
I hung up and was about to dial Non, but I forgot I didn't have his line ID.
Fuck! Where are you, Becky?
I re-read the note, and my heart sank into the eternal abyss when I realized what the paper wanted to tell me.
HELP ME.
I hurriedly ran to the boy's dormitory and saw Non in the hallway. I grabbed his collar and pulled him inside the bathroom. Everyone was shocked at what I did.
"Where is Becky?" I asked.
"Why are you asking me? I haven't seen her since yesterday."
My eyebrows furrowed. She told me she was with Non earlier. And now, Non didn't see her.
I gave him the note I saw on the bedside table, and he crumpled it. He pulled me outside, and we asked every student we saw if they saw Becky, but no one did.
"Damn it, where did they bring her?" Non said out of frustration and kicked the stone in his way.
I looked around and saw familiar glasses on the ground. It was Becky's. This is her favorite reading glasses.
"There's no time for picking up trash, Freen." Non scolded me, but I ignored him.
I looked straight and saw an alley. If I followed the path, it would lead to the abandoned building of IdR.
According to Heng, this building had been off-limits because of the people who took their lives because of academics. Some jumped out of the edifice, died by hanging, overdosed on illegal drugs, and were hand slashed.
More than 3% of the population suicide every semester, but Heng added that their death was questionable. Who would kill themselves if they wanted to leave this hellish institute? Why would they try to harm themselves if they want a peaceful and clear mind? Why would they want to die if they have dreams to chase? I didn't want to know the reasons for any of those questions. I needed to find Becky as soon as possible.
"You go right, and I go left," Non instructed and ran to the left side.
I hurriedly ran and looked around to know where Becky was. This building is tall and spacious. Even if I shouted multiple times, Becky wouldn't hear me.
I went to the third floor, but still no Becky. I wouldn't stop searching this building until I reached the top floor. My gut tells me that she's here.
Once I reached the fifth floor, I heard someone trying to shout, so I hurriedly ran in its direction. I saw Becky tied on a chair. Her hair was messy, and her mouth was covered with duct tape. Besides the small cut on her wrist, she didn't have wounds.
I untied the rope and removed the tape from her mouth. Becky breathed heavily and looked at me with tired eyes. She smiled sadly as her tears fell.
"I'm glad you're okay," she said and fell into my arms.
"What happened?" I asked.
"There was a guy who knocked on my door. He told me that you got into an accident before going home. He couldn't call your mom, so he tried to find your roommate." Becky heaved a sigh. "I followed him until we reached the alley. It was too late when I realized that I was fooled. They didn't hurt me, though. Someone came, and he told the guys who abducted me that they shouldn't touch me." Becky laughed and tried to explain more. "I bet their mastermind recognized me and realized I could ask my father to kill him. They escaped and didn't untie me. I am so hungry, Freenky." Becky buried her face in my chest as she sobbed.
They abducted her and didn't hurt her. If they wanted me, they wouldn't leave without getting me. What are they plotting now?
A piece of paper caught my attention when Becky leaned. It says, "It's only a warning. If you dig up more info, I can't ensure that your mother will be safe."
