A Start Towards Freedom

Five miles from the URFT-Nevada border

Kyle drove in the middle of the convoy leading down an open road to the Nevada border
In the passenger seat was a smuggler who had a submachine gun hidden under the passenger seat
In the back was Bryce, Hannah and another person trying to escape
They kept driving until they came across a checkpoint in the middle of the road
"Slow down. Vic one this is vic two, how copy?" asked the smuggler
"Lima Charlie, Go ahead" said the other smuggler
"What the fuck is this? We weren't supposed to have a checkpoint until Nevada" said the smuggler
"Just be calm and don't let anyone do anything stupid" said the other smuggler
The convoy continued forward until they reached the checkpoint
From the second vehicle, Kyle and the smuggler observed what was going on with the lead vehicle
They kept looking and saw a Russian soldier drag the passenger out
"Fuck, we need to do something" said the smuggler
"I got a gun, we can take these guys. I'll step out and distract them. When I do that light then the fuck up" said Kyle
"Good to go" said the smuggler
Kyle opened the door and attempted to step out but was rushed at by a Russian soldier who ordered him back in
Kyle stepped back in and the smuggler in the passenger seat stepped out
The soldier redirected his attention towards the passenger and that's when Kyle took out his pistol and shot the soldier in the neck
The smuggler grabbed his gun and started firing at the Russian soldiers in front of him
Kyle aimed at the smuggler and shot him once in the side before stepping hard on the gas and driving around the lead vehicle
Kyle looked behind him and saw the smuggler attempting to recover and still attack the Russian soldiers but was shot again and killed
Everyone in the lead vehicle was dead and the third vehicle disengaged from the Russians and followed what Kyle did and drove off while continuing to fire at the Russian soldiers
"Keep fucking going they're right behind us" said Bryce
"Why did you do that for I thought they're helping us" said Hannah
"These aren't good guys Hannah, they're in it just for profit not giving us freedom" said Kyle
From behind them they started taking fire
Kyle looked behind and saw the smugglers following behind them and firing from their car
"Bryce when they get close smoke the driver" said Kyle
"Got it" said Bryce
Kyle slowed down and waited as the car quickly approached
When they got in range Bryce started shooting and Kyle sped up
As Bryce was firing at the smugglers a rain of automatic fire came towards them
After they were taking cover Kyle looked up and saw a turn in the road
He turned quickly and lost control of the car
From behind them they were rammed by the smugglers car
The smugglers car rolled over and crashed on the road and Kyle's car was wrecked off on the side
Bryce pushed the other passengers dead body out of the car and quickly got Hannah out
Kyle looked over at the smugglers car and started firing at them as they crawled out
He hit one in the head killing him and the other retreated inside
Kyle took off his seatbelt and got out of the car
"Is everyone okay?" asked Kyle
"We're good" said Bryce
"Alright. Follow me guns up. Hannah you stay here" said Kyle
Kyle and Bryce approached the wrecked car with their guns up
They approached where the smuggler crawled out of and fired into the car into all the bodies in there
"Clear, grab radios and search their bodies" said Kyle
They grabbed radios off of the smugglers and searched for the travel tickets which they found
"Got everything we need let's move before the Ruskies show up" said Kyle
They regrouped back up with Hannah and looked on their phones to find where they are
"Looks like we're close to the city of Pahrump. Keep or the roads and just keep heading east we should be good. If we keep walking at a good pace we should hopefully be in the city by sunrise. Stay under their radar we should be fine" said Kyle
"Don't you think it'll look a little suspicious three teenagers wandering through the desert?" asked Bryce
"Better than walking along a road right in view of a fucking Russian convoy. Besides, all eyes are on LA. We'll be fine" said Kyle
"I hope you're right" said Hannah
"I'm always right. Let's get moving we can walk and talk on our way" said Kyle
They started moving them over the radio they heard Wayne radioing in
"Any stations fucking copy? What is the status on Kyle and the other fucks?" asked Wayne
"Wayne I read you loud and clear your men read you fucking dead, over" said Kyle
"Kyle you fucked up. You're fucking dead" said Wayne
"Eat shit and die motherfucker" said Kyle
"Kyle you don't get it. I was your only way to freedom. You're on your own. Everyone else out there who says they can get you out of here is either full of shit, a Ruskie or one of my men. Watch your fucking back kid, you owe me a lot more then two years of your life now" said Wayne
"Come and find me motherfucker I'll be waiting at the Canadian border for you" said Kyle
"Not if I find you sooner" said Wayne
"Fucking bitch" said Kyle
"So we're going to go kill him?" asked Bryce
"Fuck no and we're not going to Canada. No clue if he'll believe it but it's worth a shot fucking with him. Let's keep moving we got a long way to America" said Kyle

Kyle and his friends walked for a few hours until they reached Nevada
There, they found out the news that a full scale uprising has begun in LA
Once again the streets of Los Angeles will become a war zone and more innocent people will be killed for nothing
As news broke about LA, it was ordered that every city in California is put on lockdown and the borders between surrounding states is closed down
