Chapter 6: Dorm Mom(s)

Who needs to read when you can rewatch (and if you're me, re-cry over) watching and dreaming again.

[Still Luz's Pov]

We arrived at Wednesday and Enid's cabin and sat down to talk. "So, where's Enid?" I asked her
"I dunno, out on a date with her boyfriend probably. Or out with her old roommate, Yoko." Wednesday replied."Oh, and apparently we're going to the local school for the time being. Were you told that?" She asked.
"No, I didn't know that. What's it called?"
"Hexide. We're meant to meet the headmaster in two days. Apparently it's a school of magic."
"OH MY GOD, THATS SO COOL!" I yelled." "WE GET TO GO TO A SCHOOL OF MAGIC!"
"Get to? Magic users are jerks." Wednesday snapped.
"Sorry... I forgot about... That..." Wednesday took a deep breath and told me "It's fine. Oh, and me and Enid have a dorm mom? It's a cabin but whatever I guess?"
"Oh, cool! Who is she?" I asked her, surprised I hadn't heard of a dorm mom yet, or that I didn't have one.
"Some weirdo called 'Thornehill'? She's just here to make sure I'm comfortable and 'pop in' every day to see If she can help, but I've only ever seen her on the day I moved in, and she only said, 'do what you want kiddo, just don't rat me out.' . She's kinda odd if you ask me. Enid seems to like her though?"
"I wonder why I don't have one? I'm a year younger than you, so it would make more sense if I had one and you didn't."
"Your roommate is probably sheilding them from you. Trying to save their sanity."
"Hey! I'm plenty sane!"
"Then why are you upsidedown on the ottoman? You've been like that for the past 10 minutes we've been talking."
"I, uh, OOPS, GOTTA GO, I CAN SEE AMITY'S BACK BYE"
"See you then." Wednesday smirked, like she knew something Luz didn't.

[Amity's pov:]

After my last class of the day, I walked back home and I was relieved when that human wasnt there. Or I was, until I saw her running straight at the cabin, and then run straight into my after-school tutor/dorm mom, Ms L Clawthorne.
"Honestly, she's too much of a dork already, must she make it so obvious and embarrass me along with her?! She can't just ruin everything with her, humanness, all the time! That's not how it works! I worked hard to get here! Magical beings from everywhere work their asses off to get to this place, and she just gets to come, no strings attached, and bring everyone down to her level? No, I won't allow it. I will make her life a living hell until she just goes back to where she came from." I thought to myself as I quickly opened the door to my tutor and the imbecile who just tried to kill her. "I'm so sorry" I told Ms Clawthorne, "She just arrived today and hasn't learnt yet."
"That's fine Amity. I'm sure with me as her tutor, she will behave more, properly, in no time" she studied my face "You don't look very pleased about that."
"Really?" I asked, "cause I'm just delighted" I grimaced, and tried to smile, which just made Luz shiver in the corner, looking both horrified and terrified at the idea of taking lessons with me.

"Well, as you're here Luz, let's start be reviewing what we have done so far this term. You see, I was hired because amity doesn't always understand things right awa-"
"Why don't we just start?" I asked, in a panic to get Ms Clawthorne to stop talking about my 'learning difficulties'
"Right, so far we are about to have a test about the life expectancy of a toad, and why different types live a longer or shorter amount of time. The test was meant to be today, but as you are here, the it will just be homework that won't be due for another 2 weeks. Plenty of time for you to do your revision. I always give Amity a break where I don't see her when she gets homework, so I shall do the same for you, Luz. This is a copy of what we have done, you can look through this to help if you must. I will see you in two weeks time." Ms Clawthorne handed Luz a booklet and left me alone with her.

She then stuck her head back inside the door and said, "Luz, you're going to school the day after this is due, just so you know. You'll be in all of Amity's classes."

Then after that, she left. For real this time. Left me alone. With my thoughts. And Luz. And a ton of weapons that I felt like would end up either killing me, her or both of us.
