"You guys have a good night," Max bid farewell to his friends as they left the apartment. Waving over their shoulders as they headed down the fire escape, Mel and Buddy called out, "Good night!" Mel then added, "And thank you for everything!"
"No problem!" Chloe yowled from two floors up. Sweetpea could be heard whistling from up there too. Padding down the fire escape one step at time, Mel dropped Buddy off at his apartment first. "Have a good night baby," Mel spoke softly as he gave his boyfriend a loving kiss. His tail wagging happily, Buddy replied, "To you as well. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Alrighty," Mel declared before he headed over to his apartment next door. His curly tail could not stop wagging, even if he tried. Despite the incident at the dog park, the day had been pretty good. Three of their closest friends knew about their relationship. Better yet, they accepted it. All those worries and doubts were gone. This was progress, this was the first step. Mel smiled as he thought about the relationship between him and Buddy. It wouldn't be long until everyone knew and they would be going on romantic dates and outings like Max and Gidget-
Wait a second, romantic dates and outings? Have we ever done that with Buddy yet? Mel thought. Thinking for a moment, the pug felt confident that he had done so. He would have to be dumb for dating someone for a whole month without taking them out on a date. But the more he thought about it, the more he began to realize that maybe it was true. As far as the pug could remember, he and Buddy usually just had play dates in their apartments or just napped. The closest they had to a romantic outing was the dog park. Confronted by all of these facts, Mel gasped in horror.
"I never took Buddy on an actual date!"
