11. daryl

the group had been looking for a place to stay ever since the prison fell. you had stayed close with daryl ever since you reunited with him. he made you feel safe. and he was someone you didn't want to lose. if you lost him you'd have no one.

"whatcha thinkin?" daryl asked
"nothing" looking behind you to see a herd of walkers. the group hadn't had water or food in almost a week. everyone was tired and just wanted to stop. but with the herd behind us getting closer with every second, there was no time for stopping.

"okay guys the herd is gaining on us" you said for the rest of the group to hear.
"shit what do we do?" glenn asked taking a glance back
"keep moving forward. don't let anything slow you down" rick said scanning the woods
"rick there cl-" he cut you off
"change in plans, daryl get behind all of us and kill them off as they get closer. glenn go to the right of the group and get the one coming out of the woods from that side, sasha get the right. and I'll get the front everyone else stay in the middle, if one gets through kill it." rick said as you looked to the side and saw walkers coming from both sides and even some in the front.

you were panicking. you had no idea how this was gonna go, all you could think about was Daryl and what if something happened to him. you went to the back of the group where he was
"y/n get back in the middle!" he said stabbing a walker right through the temple
"no im helping" you said stabbing the next one
"like hell you are" he said killing another
"daryl please jus-" you were cut off by daryl falling. 2 walkers had knocked him down in between your little argument. you screamed as one of the walkers fell on him, you took your knife and stabbed it right through the back of the head and daryl killed the other one. it was really that easy to lose someone.

"damnit y/n! that could've been you!" he yelled
"but it wasn't and it was you! that doesn't make it any better!" you yelled back
"i don't care about me. you have to be safe!" he argued back
"daryl!" you yelled "you have to care about yourself!"
"well shit y/n i didn't realize that anything other than survival mattered in this world!" he yelled at you
"i love you Daryl. I can't lose you" you said calmly
"you what?" he said killing another walker
"im sorry" you said turning around to walk back to the middle like you had been told to stay.
"y/n wait" daryl said grabbing your wrist
"yeah?" you looked at him in his dark blue eyes.
"i love you too." he said pulling you into a hug
"you do?" you smiled hugging him back noticing carl run to the back of the group killing the walkers while you 2 had your moment.
"i do" he said pulling away and leaning down towards your lips, and gently kissing you
"im glad i have you daryl dixon." you said as you pulled away from the kiss
"im glad i have you too y/n dixon" he said mocking you but changing your last name to his which made you smile.
