Dear all who may be reading this including me,

My day today was mostly spent at Satchel's. Considering the recent paranormal events, I had the feeling the book "wrote itself" again. My suspicions were correct. As I got my mocha and spicy tuna sandwich, I opened the book to a new chapter: "Harnessing the Mind and Body." At the very least, the title was less intimidating than the last. I was about to read but then I was interrupted by the sight of Delaney entering the store. Her face was vibrant and she was alone. Her hair was different than last time too - it had streaks of purple in it. She didn't see me at first, but after ordering her coffee she noticed me and sat down at my table. She asked for my name since I did not give it to her last time. I told her my name and we started conversing about college. The talk was rudimentary and uninteresting, but then she talked to me about her experience in anthropology. She talked about her sponsored trip to study remote tribes in Papua New Guinea, and how much of her research was focused on understanding the basic human emotions and gestures that connect us all. She truly was a fascinating person, and I can surmise I am pretty attracted to her. Honestly, I can hear her talk for hours. She was, in essence, a more confident and adventurous version of me. After she finished talking about herself she enquired about me. I told her the basics too - school and stuff. Then I talked about my philosophy and spiritual beliefs. My discussion about my spiritual beliefs captivated her, as she said ideas of religion are one of the parts of anthropology she's most passionate about. I told her that my faith is rooted in agnostic and Taoist principles. Ultimately, I believe in the spirit world and its many capabilities, and that there is beauty in the unknown. As humans, it is our destiny to explore our surroundings and that which lies beyond. When I was talking more about my beliefs, there was a certain glint in her eyes that led me to believe she might like me too. We talked more and then she asked if I wanted to visit a bookstore together tomorrow. Obviously, I said yes. Following this, she said it was time to go and gave me her phone contact. Rose is her last name, which I must say is a very pretty one.

After she left, I began reading the new chapter. I came to find this chapter very useful and relatable. It discussed the importance of the magician to strengthen their mind to attain spiritual sustenance and prowess. "Without controlling one's mind, eventually you will lose your life altogether," said one quote from the chapter. It discussed meditation and physical exercise as the best ways of attaining this. As I got further into the chapter, it discussed the dark side of human nature - the ego and the need to put the neuroses contained within under control. "The ego is in many ways a parasite, albeit one we all live with. For the neophyte to be successful in further endeavors, they must learn to be the master of this creature and to tame it. Destroying it is futile, so control is the only option that can be enacted," said another line from the chapter. Overall, I feel most people can benefit from this chapter, as we all have our monsters. When I finally reached the end of the chapter, there was no ritual - only a strange phrase that was bolded: FEHNLATUK TAFA VEHN SHA DERUNO.

I read this phrase several times in my mind - I don't know why. I had an unknown urge too and I could not stop. I was in a trance at Satchel's. Nothing else but the phrase was running through my mind. Before I knew it, I started getting dizzy and nauseous. My eyes were rolling back into my head. I went unconscious but during this state, I remember having the most vivid vision. I was in what appeared to be an alien world. The whole night sky was purely visible and astonishing and there were two moons. I was on the rocky surface of this realm and there were two stone pillars in the distance, each with strange inscriptions upon them. In between the pillars was the figure again, its cloak flowing with the wind. Suddenly, the figure pulled out its hands. Instead of the vision ending again, I was pulled by an invisible force to the figure at a very fast speed. I was terrified but before I could scream I came face-first with the figure. Now, I could see all of its eyes. It had at least nine, all of them staring right at me. It then spoke to me: "Neophyte. Do you wish to finally rid yourself of the fear that plagues your everyday life?" I nodded yes. The figure then responded: "Then you must do something for me. I am Kahvefu, and you are my pupil. You have my book, and with it, I give you the gift of knowledge. I will also give you the gift of calm, but you must help me in whatever I wish. Do you understand?" I nodded yes again. He then spoke one more time: "Very well. On the outskirts of the city, there is a family of two - a mother and her daughter. Help them exorcise the foul spirit invading them, and you shall receive what you wish. The next chapter will assist you. I will have more for you and explain more at a later time." Before I had time to say anything else, Kahvefu snapped their fingers and sent me flying to the abyss of space above me.

I woke up. There was a crowd of people huddled around me. I asked what the hell went on and they said I fell onto the floor and began convulsing. One of them offered to call an ambulance or drive me to the nearest hospital but I refused. I felt fine - just a little groggy and dazed, so I dismissed their worries and left the coffeehouse. Guess I won't be going there for a little bit considering that scene.

I am writing this now from my dining room. I am holding an icepack over my head with one hand because of the trauma from the fall. In any case, it appears I have a mission in front of my hands. I honestly expected something more nefarious, so I am glad I will be helping people. I'll read the next chapter tomorrow, and then try to find the family Kahvefu was referring to.

Sincerely,

Douglas.
