My dear PLayers,
It took me eight months to finish this story. I hit some speed bumps, reached some dead ends, and suffered writer's block along the way. Now, it's finally marked as complete!
Thank you so much for reading and appreciating this story! I hope that Origins has offered more insights and deeper perspectives on our characters—especially our beloved QED Four—as not all of them were not given the opportunity to share their points of view (though this is intentional on my part) in the Project LOKI series.
Some of you may have questions, so let me take this chance to address them.
Why did you write ORIGINS when we already have the introduction of the QED Four in Project LOKI?
I'm not sure if I've already mentioned it in my Author's Notes, but I'm planning to create the "QED Club series." The first set will focus on their Grade 11 year while the second set will focus on their Grade 12 year. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to accomplish all of these—I'm a bit notorious for abandoning some writing projects—but I'll try my best since there are some stories that our dear detectives can tell.
While the QED Four has already been introduced in the Project LOKI series, their introductions are shared to the readers through Lorelei's perspective. During the conceptualization of Origins, I found it interesting to let you know what a particular character was thinking and doing before they became official members of the QED Club. This was the perfect opportunity to give you a bit of their back stories.
Plus, if new readers of mine don't wish to undergo the Herculean task of reading Project LOKI Volume 1 that contained blood and gore, but wish to learn more about the QED Four, I want to give them an alternative. My goal is make people read and understand any of the QED Club books without having to read Project LOKI. Origins is meant to serve that purpose.
What is the easiest part in writing ORIGINS?
It's not really the easiest, but I enjoyed retelling some scenes from Project LOKI through the perspective of other characters. I wanted to share how their thought process worked, and how they perceived the world and people around them.
What is the hardest part in writing ORIGINS?
Not the hardest, but the most challenging: writing Lorelei's part. Project LOKI was written entirely through her POV, so what else was there to share? I thought hard about it for months until I stumbled upon a plot that could somewhat involve Loki and connect to Rhea.
Now that ORIGINS is done, what's next?
In the QED Club series, I might resume writing Festival of the QED Club. It will focus on the senior high festival in Clark High where our four high school detectives belonging in different strands will compete against each other (except Lorelei and Alistair since they're both HUMSS students). I also intend to explore other characters such as Luthor, Margarette, Rye, and the others.
I started writing Festival offline in March 2022, but put it on hold to give way to Origins. Now seems to be the perfect time to continue writing it. Let's hope that I won't get distracted.
Will we ever get a RHEA part?
I intended to write a segment for Rhea in the Origins since she was also part of the QED Club. However, I've decided to put it off and reserve it as special content in the future. Readers will get to know her more in Chronicles (aside from Project LOKI).
Will ORIGINS be published into a book? If yes, when?
One of my publishers has already expressed interest in releasing a paperback copy of it, probably later this year.
What can we expect from the published version?
As of writing, there are no official discussions yet, but I'll request to feature the QED Four in the cover. Like in the published version of Chronicles under Bliss Books, there could be some character illustrations inside and a bunch of special chapters.
So that's it! If you have any more questions, feel free to comment them below.
Again, thank you for reading Origins! See you in the next great adventure of the QED Club!
Sincerely,
R.C. MUSNI (AKOSIIBARRA)
