Mon
I'm done with my morning routine, jogging. I stopped and sat down at the vacant bench na nakita ko. I drank my water as I'm listening to one of my favorites artists I let the sweat from my body to fall down.
I took my phone out of my pocket to check if I received a message and there's a lot of it, actually. But I opened my Mom's message first, ofcourse. She's telling me to go back home quickly. I raised my brow. My Mom would never ask me to go home this quick unless if it's an emergency. So I quickly get up on my feet and ran to the side street and called for a cab.
When we reached the house. I paid for my fee and jumps out from the car. I ran inside the house and look for my Mother. There I saw her at the living room, talking to my bestfriend Yuki while looking something to the phone, smiling.
"Mom, Yuki.." I approached them.
But before I could reach them. A little girl walks in running to me.
"Mommy Mon." She enveloped me with her little arms. "What took you so long?" She asked pouting.
I bended my knees a little to give her a quick kiss on her forehead. "I'm sorry, honey. I went outside without waking you up."
"It's okay, Mommy." She said, showing me her white perfect bunny teeth. She and Sam are really look a like. Now, I'm jealous.
"Where's your Mama Sam?" I'm looking for my wife and there she is. Walking out of the kitchen, holding a mini cake and a candle on it.
"Looking for me, Love?" She said approaching us.
"Happy birthday, Mommy Mon." Emily greeted me.
"Aww. Thank you, Baby." I kissed her once again.
"Your welcome, Baby." Sam said which makes me and Emily giggled.
"Not you, Sam. I mean baby Emily." I teased her.
"But you used to call me baby before, right?"
I rolled my eyes. I can feel my face heating up again because her flirting skills.
"Mommy, you're blushing. Hihi." Emily teased me too. Mag-nanay nga sila.
"Happy birthday, Mon." Yuki greeted me.
"Happy birthday, sweetheart." Then si Mom naman ang lumapit sakin.
"Thank you, Mom, Yuki." I hugged them both.
"Make a wish Mommy Mon."
It's my birthday and I'm so happy right now.
But I still closed my eyes and made a wish. Naghihintay sakin si Emily to blow the candle.
I opened my eyes at sabay naming nilapit ni Sam ang cake sakanya at saka nya inihipan yung kandila.
"Happy Birthday, Love." Sam greeted me as she pouts her lips asking for a kiss. But I pusher her away and I kissed Emily instead.
"Save it for later, Sam." I whispered to her which made her eyes widened.
"I'm ready for it, Baby." She winked at me.
My gosh. She still making my heart beats rapidly and blush hard.
It's been 10 years since Sam recovered from her heart condition. Yes, they went to the states kahit walang kasiguraduhan kung gagaling talaga syang tuluyan. But Sam's a fighter. Lumaban sya for her life and I couldn't ask for more.
We've been married for 3 years now, tinapos lang namin ang school namin before deciding to get married and adopt a child. Now we have Emily, we adopted her when she was 3 years old, we met her at the Orphanage na pinuntahan namin nila Sam para sa foundation ng Grandmother nya. The first time we met her, she already took our hearts then after our graduation, we decided to adopt her and now she's already 6 years old. It feels surreal, having a family on my own.
"Mommy..." hinihila ni Emily ang damit ko to get my attention. Her hands on her back, hiding something from me.
"What is it, honey?" I asked.
"I have gift for you. I don't have money to buy you a gift that's why I drew us.." she shyly showed me her drawing.
I smiled widely as I saw it. It was me, her and Sam.
"Do you like it, Mommy?" Emily asked me shyly.
"Ofcourse, honey. I love it. Thank you so much. I really appreciated it." I said cupping her face and squeezed her cheeks lightly.
"Mommy, it hurts."
"I'm sorry. I just can't help it. You're too cute and sweet." I said.
"Sa lahat ng pwede mong manahin sa Mommy Mon mo yung pagdo-drawing pa nya. Tsk." Sam whispered but enough for me to hear her.
"Sam, I heard you." I warned her. But my eyes widened to what she just said.
"It was meant for you to hear, Love." She rolled her eyes before turning her face to our daughter and smiled to Emily sweetly. "What do you want to be when you grow up like us, Emily?"
"I want to be Lawyer and Model like Mommy Mon but I want to have my own company someday, Mama Sam."
I laughed. This girl is surely has a dream.
"Whatever you want to be, we're here for you, rooting and cheering for you. But please... don't dream about becoming an Artist okay?"
"Sam!" I slapped her shoulder very hard to stopped her from teasing our daughter's drawing. She's really mean when it comes to our drawing.
"I'm just joking, Love. Ofcourse if Emily wants to become an Artist someday, we will support her no matter what." She pulled Emily by her arms and hugged her. "Thank you for coming into our lives, Emi. I love you and Mommy Mon more than my life."
"I love you more, Mama Sam." Emily said sweetly as she hugged Sam back.
"And I love you both." I said.
"And we love you more, Mommy Mon." Emily said placing her on hand to my cheek.
Higit pa to sa hinihiling ko.
Our almost is now Our Forever.
