I surprisingly had a really great time with Matthew! He's really sweet and he knew all the right things to say.

But it would never work. We're so different. He's the captain of mathletes, and I'm the the captain of the dance team. I mean yeah, I'm in all the same honors and AP's as him but that means nothing. Right?

I walk into school and go straight to my locker. Everyone's give me funny looks and the people who usually say hi to me every morning, aren't.

I open my locker and while checking my hair in my mirror, I see a figure appear and I jump.

"Did I scare you?" I hear as the boy starts to laugh and then he leans on the lockers next to me. It's my ex boyfriend, Sammy. I miss him sometimes but I know ending things with him was the right thing to do.

"Sammy, what do you want?"
He smirks at me, "you." I roll my eyes and close my locker. I start to walk away but he grabs my arm and pulls me back.
"What's going on with you and this kid?" he asks with a stern look now.
"Who? Matthew?" He nods.
"It's nothing. His ass hole friend bet him that he wouldn't ask me out so I was just helping him out. It meant nothing to me. So back off, ok?"
"Good," Sammy says with a wink, "I was starting to worry you would downgrade from me."
"Anyone's an upgrade going from you" I respond as brush past his shoulder and go to class.

I didn't mean what I said about Matthew, I was just trying to get Sammy to leave me alone. My date with Matthew didn't mean nothing to me, it meant a lot actually.

When I walk in, Matthew is sulking in his seat and it appears that Taylor is picking on him. When I get to my seat I turn around and look at Taylor, "stop being a prick and leave him alone, Taylor." Both of their eyes grow wide.
"Damn bitch, don't tell me what to do!"
"Don't call her that Taylor, that's why none of the girls like you," Matthew says.
"Whatever man, I was just trying to help you out."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask.
"I heard what you said. I got the message. You didn't have to lie to me last night."

Fuck. He heard what I said to Sammy but I didn't mean what I said. I really didn't.

"Matthew, I can explain.."
"Ok class, take out your homework!" my math teacher says from the front of the room.
"Meet me in the gardens during lunch. I can explain.." I whisper before turning around.

I really hope he'll listen to me.

I walk into the garden to see Matthew already waiting for me on a bench, without his glasses. Which is weird. I've never seen him without his glasses until now. He looks so damn good.

"And now I'm the one having MY time wasted. Where've you been?"
"Sorry... I got caught up with something..."
"I bet," he mutters go himself. "Now what do you need to talk about?"
"I can explain myself for earlier. I only said those things go Sammy so he would leave me alone."
"Yeah," he mutters as he gets up and starts walking away.
"Matthew, I haven't stopped thinking about you since you left last night.."

He stops in his tracks and he slowly turns around, "really?" I nod.
"I haven't stopped thinking about you either.." he says with a smile as he puts his fingers through his hair.

He starts to walk towards me with open arms. When he reaches me, he wraps his arms around me and I rest my head on his shoulder.
"What happened to your glasses?"
"Uh... Sammy kinda.. Broke them.."
"WHAT?!?"
"It's fine," he says with a laugh, "he yelled at me for wasting your night. Don't worry though, a new pair will be here by the weekend."
"I'm so sorry for him, Matthew.. I'll make it up to you"
"You can make it up to me by going to the beach with me today after.."
I smile, "I'd love to."

The bell rings.

"I'll find you after school?" I kiss his cheek and run away.

I hope I'm not making a mistake.
