The blondie's name is Travis. Travis Phelps. He's one of the many people in the city who goes to church, the one just across the street. His father actually owns the church, so he kinda just has to go anyway.”

Nix said, pretty much introducing me to that blondie. “Dang.. he seemed pretty angry for Monday today.” I joked, causing a chuckle to come out of both Nix and Sage. “Nah, dude's super homophobic.. Motherfucker has internalized homophobia.”

The last statement made me look at Sage as he said it. “Oh - he's actually into guys?” I asked him before he laid back down on the bed whilst humming. “Yeah, a hundred percent. He told me before. Though, I dunno what happened today.. was just asking him some questions about being gay pretty much when he took it personally.”

I sighed in just.. confusion. So, he just attacked for no reason? “The guy has SEVERE anger issues. He's been around in the school for a while, though I barely remember him ever talking to anyone but Sage.” Nix further informed me. I nodded slowly as I heard bits of info on this guy.

Hey, where's the church he goes to?” I asked, expecting either one to answer. Sage did, “The Phelps’ Ministry, just down the block. A lotta people go there.” I nodded my head hearing the answer. I recalled seeing a really old building while we were on the bus earlier.. Maybe that was the building.

Anyhow though, me and Nix were sent off to attend our respective classes, leaving Sage out to rest in the nurse's office. On the way, Nix gave me an introduction on Sage this time.

He actually lives with us - room 202. Though, he usually just.. smokes, a shit ton.” I turned to him in confusion. Well, I guess those are teenage years..

--

It was the last class of my class periods. Though, luckily, the teacher was absent today, so we got permission for roaming the school and about. Though, I managed to take up a short-leave to go home. Well, not exactly home.

I continued walking over down the road until I reached the famous Phelp's Ministry. It was.. a lot smaller than I initiated for it to be. I've seen Churches larger than what I saw, so I was.. confused, I'm guessing?

I couldn't tell what I was feeling at all.. It was like some kind of nerve tightening around my throat. I glanced over at a small, white house that wasn't too far from it, guessing that it's Travis’ house.

Out of my way, Xavier.”

I heard an unfamiliar voice from behind me, startling me almost. I turned my head behind to see a blonde, tan-skinned boy standing next to me with a frown on his face. Well, I'm fucked..

“Oh you- know my name..” I said, mostly surprised. It was just my first day. Was I already getting that famous around the school?

I saw you introducing yourself in math class today.” He responded. I forgot; me and Travis did share math class today. I didn't notice him for the rest of the class - he was extremely quiet.

“Oh, so that's how..” I said awkwardly while nodding. I glanced back at the church and the small building near it before asking, “So.. you're Tr—”

“Travis Phelps, yes. And that's my dad's ministry.” He said, already answering all of my questions. I sighed in thought before asking him, again, hopefully to not get cut off.

..Do you wanna be fri—”

“With you?”

What - why do you keep cutting me off??”

“Because, I've been through this way too many times than you think.”

Travis just scoffed at me as he walked past me, leaving me there to my thoughts. Well.. out of all encounters, this one had to be the most nerve-wrecking one.

And I'd like to be your friend, Xavier.”

I heard Travis speak up again behind me, to which I turned around to him. He was smiling.. and his smile was just.. it was contagious, almost. I smiled at him as well before nodding, “Yeah uhm.. see you tomorrow?” I said, to which he hummed. “Sure. In math class.” and with that, he turned back around to go to his house.

I turned back and started walking towards mine, with many questions in my head. It was almost as if I saw a completely different side to him. His eyes showed pure anger when I saw him in that hallway, but this time they were just pure. Though, one of them was a little.. well, damaged. But still. I couldn't believe I was talking to the same guy I saw in the hallway this morning.

But, something about that church.. made me feel uneasy.

Well, my father had plans to go there this weekend anyway.
