CHAPTER THREE
Oh, The MiseryPeter managed to sneak out of his first period class in order to make sure that Eve did in fact go to school. Eve crossed her arms as she stood in front of the school. "See? I made it to school."
"And are you gonna stay here? Or are you gonna leave the second I do?" Peter questioned, crossing his arms over his chest.
Eve looked up at him and grinned, "what if I went to school with you?"
"Oh, I know why! Maybe because you would be constantly asking me what the teacher is saying. And they'd know you don't go to school at Midtown because you're not the best at math." Peter explained.
"Hey! I'm fine with math." She defended.
Peter rose a brow. "Oh really?" She nodded. "Eve, you once wrote the answer to 1+1 equals window."
"Well, technically it does because you write two ones with lines, then the equal sign and it connects them." Eve argued.
Peter sighed, "and that's why you're not going to Midtown. Come on."
Eve furrowed her brows at Peter. "You do realise that your school's back—"
"I got a note that I can go to classes with you so long as I do my school work."
"They're that desperate to have me stay in school. Fine. And here, we have a bunch of assholes— teenagers smoking, trying to sneak alcohol in school in the most obvious way, and making out in front of everyone else." Eve gestured to the many assholes.
Peter laughed. One of the girls, someone who hated Eve's guts, walked up to them upon seeing Peter. "Hey, Eve! Who's this?" For some reason Eve felt a wave of something wash over her when the girl tried to flirt with Peter.
"Oh, I'm Peter." He introduced politely.
"Miranda. Eve and I are best friends. Are you new here?"
Eve didn't know why she wanted to punch Miranda, other than the reasons of her bullying her one week ago. Peter could somehow sense the hint of anger and fury from Eve. "Right. Eve never mentioned a friend named Miranda." He smiled with a slight annoyed tone. In both Eve and Peter's opinions, Miranda was extremely annoying.
Miranda let out a dramatic sigh, then stormed off. "That's Miranda? The girl who—"
"Who called me a bitch, future drop-out, a liar, a who-"
"Okay! Got it."
"She was trying to flirt with you." Eve told him.
"Yeah, well, she's not my type."
"What is your type then?" She questioned, cursing at her locker. Eve didn't notice that the second she asked that, his attention was on her.
Her ears managed to pick up the sound of a rifle hitting the corridor wall. Eve turned around to see a distant figure, she slapped Peter on the forearm. She then nodded subtly to the guys far behind Peter. "Oh shit!"
"Get to a classroom. Stay there, hide, okay."
"What about you?"
"I'll tell you later. Just go. I can handle myself." He didn't want to leave her. But he knew she'd just drag his ass into a classroom regardless.
The gunshots didn't startle Eve as much as she thought they would. She hid behind one of the walls that had a bit of room to hide. She waited for the guy to walk past her, and he did. She managed to form a portal underneath his feet and at least teleport him outside.
Eve followed them through a portal and ended up in an old abandoned parking lot. There were two more. One of them, who Eve didn't see at the school, grabbed his pistol and shot at her. She narrowly managed to avoid them, but the adrenaline must have made her have a pain in her torso. The large metal container apparently wasn't big enough to keep her hidden forever.
One of them found her. She ignored the weird sharp pain in her torso as she used her strength to send all of them into a portal to hell knows where. One of them was trying to kill her, and she couldn't bring herself to focus to send him away. He brought the pistol to her neck as she stood up.
She didn't feel scared or threatened. All she felt was tired while adrenaline rushed through her veins. Just as he was about to shoot her, she grabbed a hold of the gun herself, flipped it around and pulled the trigger.
She let the gun drop to her side as she fell. Luckily, she somewhat broke her fall by grabbing onto a wall.
Eve looked down at her hand that had gripped onto her torso. Her legs felt like they had given out or something. Her vision started to darken and fade in on her. She couldn't even crawl, let alone run. In her hands was a crimson liquid, blood. Her blood.

Poor Peter's just in a random classroom, waiting for Eve
Okay, bye!
