CHAPTER FOUR
And I'll Do Better

Lisa eventually found her daughter in an old abandoned parking lot outside of an old convenience store that was creepy as hell. She knew something like this would happen, and she could only blame herself for not preparing her more. Lisa knew she should take her to the hospital, but it was so backed up in the ER, besides, she had mostly everything at the house.

Lisa carried her daughter to the car, trying to focus on getting them both home alive. She dialled Peter, letting him know of the situation. Eve was losing a lot of blood, which didn't help calm Lisa's nerves. So, she jumped when she heard Peter walk in to assist.

Eve was placed on the couch, just laying there with her eyes closed, blood pouring from her torso. Peter didn't want to see her hurt. But he couldn't bear to leave her side, he'd never forgive himself.

Eve furrowed her brows, looking around. It was like a void of darkness.

"Eve?" Startled, Eve turned around to face a person.

It was a man, around her mom's age, standing there with tears in his eyes. He had short light brown or dark blond hair, green eyes, and a brown leather jacket on. Underneath the leather jacket, he had a flannel shirt on.

"Who the hell are you?" She questioned, not feeling much pain.

He stepped closer. The tears were more visible when he was closer. But, she didn't know who it was. Clearly, he knew her.

"I- I'm glad to see you..." then realisation hit him, "wait... Why are you here?"

"Who the hell are you?" Eve repeated her question.

The man smiled. "That's right. You don't really remember me." He sighed. "I'm Reid Doyle."

The second he said Doyle, the resemblance kicked in. "Dad?" He nodded.

"Wait? Am I dead?" Obviously, Reid couldn't sense the extremely small glimmer of hope in her voice.

"No. Not yet, at least. This is the place where it's decided whether you do or not. I'm here to help guide the decision. What I don't understand is why or how you ended up..."

"I got my powers. Fought bad guys, I told my best friend to stay away and I'd explain everything later." There were a million things she didn't do yet.

"Look, Eve, you're the only one that can make this decision." Reid told her.

Eve bit her lip, she hated making decisions. On one hand, any form of pain could go away, she could stay with her dad. But, on the other hand, she had Peter, her mom, her new vigilante life... It was a difficult choice to make.

Lisa had taken a break, Peter assured her that he'd stay with her while she went to work reluctantly. He brushed strands of hair from her face. Tears started streaming down his face. "Please don't go. I can't lose you, Evie."

And he would stay by her side, the entire night.

"I just met you, dad. I never got to know you. I mean, you and me could just talk or somethin'." Eve reasoned.

Reid had a feeling he knew her answer.

Peter couldn't bring himself to wipe his eyes with the sleeve of his long sleeved shirt.

He thought he was imagining or hallucinating when he saw Eve slowly open her eyes.

"I'm sorry, dad. But, you and mom wanted me to make the most of my life. And, I still have to explain stuff to Peter..."

"I know." He hugged her tightly before breaking the embrace. "I like him. Peter. He's a good kid."

"Yeah, he is." Eve smiled.

"Hey, nerd." She said to Peter, smiling lightly when she saw his face.

"You're... You're alive! Holy shit! Don't ever scare me like that again..." Peter exclaimed, carefully hugging her. He was careful not to touch the major wounds as he did.

"I know the school called. I have to go in tomorrow, right?" He nodded.

"You shouldn't have to! I mean, you almost died!"

"Pete, it's fine. It's just another day of hell, so what? Besides, it's just a meeting." Eve assured him.

"Miss Doyle, I'm... glad to see that you're alive and well." The principal said, sitting down.

Eve was not doing well. She was actually feeling like complete shit, and somewhat freaked out by almost dying. She winced when she sat down. Her bruises ached on her legs.

"Sir, why am I here?" She got right to the point.

He didn't even bat an eye, he didn't sigh, he just shrugged. "Your grades aren't enough. You skipped school too many times. You're being kicked out."

So... she's alive. She can't communicate with the dead, I just wanted her to go through sadness. Also, she's forget the whole scene with her dad.

:]

Okay, bye!
