Mood board: Philomene
Augustus POV

"Oh no," Timothy said.

"What? What happened?" Philomene asked.

"Myra's dead. So is Leona. But Lili went down too. I'm not sure if she's just unconscious or...," Timothy trailed off, letting us fill in the rest.

I wanted to scream. If she was still alive and if I could just get to her, then I could make her whole again. But we were trapped in this illusion, with Timothy as our only link to the real world. Giovanna had us hogtied.

"Augustus, i have an idea. I'm going to use animals to carry your actual body through the aura and hope that this works," Timothy said.

"Hope that what works?" I asked.

"Right now, everyone is cocooned by the aura. But Giovanna is preoccupied with the fight. I'm hoping if I can physically get you to Jason, he can put a barrier around your mind in a way that I can't. Whoa," he said suddenly. "I just saw a huge streak of lightning coming from her last known location. I really hope that's the elementals and not Giovanna."

Lightning? I'd never heard of any of them being able to do something like that with the elements. But who knew. Desperate times called for desperate measures.

"Alright. Let's try your plan. It's better than what we've been doing here, which isn't really much," I said.

Timothy nodded.

"You all are the first people I've communicated with through the aura outside of my sister, so I'm not sure how this is going to feel for you. I'm going to stand close to you. The proximity will help me focus," he said.

Timothy shuffled up beside me, shoulder to shoulder so that we were in close proximity without breathing down each other's necks. Although we were side by side, I could see the glow of his eyes, signifying the use of his powers. I'd never known his eyes to glow before, but it wasn't uncommon for an Unknown's powers to amplify with practice or under strenuous circumstances.

I got the faint sensation of something shifting, almost as if I was being jostled. It was distant and hard to grasp onto, but I could tell Timothy was definitely doing something. Several moments went by like that until finally, I felt like I was falling before smacking against the ground,  even though I was still standing up inside the aura. I glanced at Timothy to see that he had a bead of sweat trickling down his brow from concentration.

"Sorry," he said, his voice strained.

Nothing happened for a few minutes and then I had the distinct feeling of someone putting their hands on my face.

Wake up. We need you, Augustus.

It was Jason's voice that rang in my mind. His words penetrated the haze in my mind, piercing through the aura like his powers were a pin popping a balloon. The blanket that had enveloped me for so long lifted, and I instantly felt lighter. The images of Philomene, Delaney and Timothy dissipated until all I could see as Jason crouched down in front of me. He held out a hand and helped me to my feet. Then I saw a wolf next to me. It watched me carefully, with an intelligence that no animal normally had.
