Moodboard: Ayana
Daisy Lynn POV
With each second that ticked by, I felt like my mind, body and soul were going to tear apart from one another. Some Unknowns were born with the ability to hold the amount of power I wielded right now – the kind of power that could unravel an entire planet. Giovanna and The Supreme were the main ones that came to mind. They were the only Unknowns who had a power level of ten. Individually, we elementals were around an eight, maybe a nine if I was being generous. But combined...combined I knew it was more than that.
Thrusting our energies into one person unlocked feats we'd tried to accomplish, but had never been capable of before. Back during the war against the humans, Ken and I had intertwined my hydrokinesis with his aerokinesis in an effort to control the weather. We'd failed then. Right now skies had opened up in a way I never thought possible. And on top of that, I'd done it with my mind alone.
I could sense the very tilt of the earth on its axis. My powers registered not only the shifting of the tectonic plates that rested beneath the continents, but I felt the heat of the earth's core pulsing within me. This was far beyond anything I had ever felt before with my hydrokinesis. Holding this much power was dangerous when my body was more suited to hold significantly less. Ayana had been right about that, but as I faced Giovanna, I realized Ken was right too.
She lifted her aura like an umbrella to protect herself from the ice shards that rained down on her. At the same time she began forming physical shapes with her power. Her aura molded into countless spikes overhead, not much different from the way I could create shards of ice. She aimed them toward me, before shooting them forward like bullets. When my body responded, it was more than just my own instincts in control.
Ken's energy blew through me and I dodged each spike, moving faster than the eye could see. My body became one with the wind, bending and shifting, flying and diving as each of Giovanna's projectiles flew by harmlessly. No...more than just flew by, I realized suddenly. Many of them went through me, and yet still hit nothing but air.
The surprise on Giovanna's violet eyes was easy to see. But she wasn't deterred. This was the same woman who had plotted and succeeded at assassinating the strongest Unknown to ever exist. It was going to take more than this to throw her off, much less take her down. I steeled myself to go on the offense and felt Dziko and Sakima's energy pulsate as I did so. For years, my ability to control fire had been restricted to one arm. The thought brought a wry smile to my face – a mixture of sadness and amusement. It had been a result of a freak accident from Sakima attacking me and Myra and the combination of our powers – her raw energy and our elements – left me with not only a scar from my fingertips to my forearm, but the unsuspecting ability to wield the exact opposite of my native power. Myra had been the key to that, much in the same way she had been the key in backing up Giovanna's endeavors. Back then, we were best friends. She was the sister I never had. Now, it was much different.
