"Found you!"
The blurred out figure gave you a slight smile as she held her hand out, waiting patiently for you to take it.
"How do you always manage to find me?" You grabbed her hand and allowed her to help you up from your hiding spot.
"I'm just really good at hide and seek!" She exclaimed in a giggly tone. "Now can we look at the astronomy books? Pretty please?"
"As long as you promise not to be all science-y about it," You looked at her accusingly.
She gave an offended gasp. "But that what makes it fun!"
"*Bleep*, no."
There it was again. The name that you were so fond of, was censored.
"I'll get my dad to make f/f for you at our sleepover!" She booped your nose, making you scrunch it up.
"Your lucky you've got a dad that's good at cooking," You grumbled.
"Great! I'll go grab the book," She began to run off before you grabbed her wrist.
"Why can't we go look at it in the library?"
"Come on, Y/n! You know the experience is more fun when we look over the city while doing it!"
You let go of her wrist. "Okay, but be quick."
A couple of minutes later she came back, clutching a book with a black cover, and sat next you.
"So, what do you want to look at first? Zodiac constellations? Ursa major? Oooo, maybe hydra! That's the largest constellation ever found in the sky! Or maybe-Y/n? Y/n!"
"Yeah?"
"Are you paying attention to what I'm saying?"
"Of course I am!"
"Hmm..." She didn't seem to buy it. "What is the largest constellation?"
"Hydra."
"...Alright, I'm not entirely convinced, but I'll let it go." She looked back to the book, and her eyes lit up. "Did you know sailors used to use stars to navigate in the old world?"
"That's cool! We could make a saying based on that," You suggested, looming over her shoulder to look at the book.
"Good idea! It could be our thing," She placed her hand on her chin in thought for a moment. "How about...'I'll navigate the stars to find you.'?"
"That sounds so cheesy," You chuckled, placing your hand on the page.
She placed her hand on top of yours. "You know you love it."
"Maybe I do."
---------
You woke up with a headache, as per usual.
You got up from your sleeping posistion, rubbing your head and making your way over to a log in the cave.
Two years.
Two years and you still hadn't gotten your memory back.
Well, not fully at least.
You still had headaches every morning when you woke up, and then it would fade after a few minutes.
It was almost like life itself hated you.
"Any luck?"
You looked up from the ground and was met with the girl.
You hadn't named her, you couldn't be bothered, so whenever you needed to get her attention you'd just say 'Hey you!' or something along the lines of that.
"Still getting the memories, but the figures are still missing," You groaned, leaning back a bit. "I'm missing something! I feel like if I find it everything will just slot into place."
"Should we go look for it?" The girl asked, making her way over and sitting next to you.
"No," You sighed, moving onto the floor and looking at the blank wall. "Something tells me to wait."
"But..."
"The 'but' is I have no patience!" You tucked your legs in closer. "I don't think I've felt this dumb or useless...ever!" You rested your head on your knees, tears welling up in your eyes.
The silence that followed was too loud.
...
...
...
"It's not your fault."
"What?" You turned your head around.
"That you lost your memory." She shifted to the floor, so she was next to you. "It's not your fault."
"I know, but-"
"Then why are you blaming yourself?"
"I...I..." The tears began to fall down your face. "I don't know."
You felt a pair of arms wrap around you.
You didn't question it, you just allowed yourself to cry.
You felt safe for the first time after your memory loss.
Safe.
That was a feeling you hadn't felt in ages.
The tears finally began to slow as she removed her arms from you.
"If I ever find out you're feeling like that again, I'm going to stab you with Stalky."
You chuckled, wiping away your tears with your clothes. "Thanks, I needed that."
"And just to be clear," The girl stood up and grabbed her weapon. "That's never happening again."
"Understood!" You got up and saluted before laughing at yourself.
You even caught her smiling at the joke.
But, the question was still remaining in your mind.
What am I missing?
Sorry it's a bit shorter than normal, I couldn't drag myself to make it any longer
What do you think? Was the cheese too cheesy?
Bye everyone <333
