You took a minute to take in the environment around you, eyes observing the all of the details sharply.

The room was dark—although there was the fact that the burrow was always dark, the room had no lights on, and you guessed if the cat in you hadn't decided to come out you wouldn't be able to see anything.

A tight sleeping bag hugged your body. You were confused about how you could feel things if this was just a memory; but had no time to dwell on that as the figure next to you shot up, panting.

Your head turned.

She had her knees brought to her face, hugging them with both of her arms and rocking back and forth in a distressed manner.

You hesitated, before placing a soft hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?" You asked in a gentle tone, not wanting to cause her panic to worsen.

"O-Oh, I'm s-sorry did I wake you up?" She sniffled, looking in the other direction while wiping her tears away with her arm.

"I was already up, *bleep*." You scooted over so that you were closer to her, before repeating what you previously said. "What's wrong?"

She turned around, and there was a big detail that you realized immediately.

Her eyes.

They were visible.

You wanted to gasp, but couldn't. Wouldn't. shouldn't.

Why? When you were in a memory, the words you were saying weren't yours—they were being spoken in the actual situation, You were simply an observer looking through your past self's eyes.

"I had a nightmare." She said in a breathy voice that almost sounded like a whisper.

You sighed, wrapping an arm around her as she rested her head on your shoulder.

"What was it about?"
She let out a sigh, closing her eyes and snuggling even closer to you. "You died...I got really scared. You're so important to me, if I lost you-"

"Hey," You gripped her hand firmly. "You won't."

"Promise?"

"I promise."

Before you could process what was happening, she pulled you into a hug.

The embrace was warm and comforting, almost as if you were getting a blanket after being out in the cold for hours.

"Thanks, Y/n. I needed that. You're such a good friend."

Friend.

For some reason, that word hurt.

"No problem." You managed out, returning the contact.

"Anything that looks useful," Wolf pushed down the shelf in front of her, crawling through the hole that was made. "Take."

"You got it," You said, picking up a bag of what seemed to be chocolate powder, before you sniffed it and placed it back where you found it.
