Jamie Flatters

I release a breath as I lock the bathroom door.

What the fuck.

What is wrong with me? I made it so obvious. She saw it, and she backed up from me because of it.

Since the moment I saw Valeria for the first time since that argument we had, I've been off my guard all the time. I've been able to hide my feelings from her for so long, and now it's like her mere existence catches me off guard.

I use the bathroom like I needed to and walk out slowly, checking the hall to make sure no one's there. I jump when Sofia is there just staring at me.

"What?" I ask, and she nods her head towards where the kitchen door is. I follow her despite knowing she's just going to lecture me about something.

She leans against the counter and tilts her head at me.

"What?" I ask again, genuinely confused as to why she's taken me here when everyone's in the living room.

"I saw that." I squint at her. "Saw what?" She couldn't have possibly seen what I think she saw.

"By the bathroom door, you and Valeria were so close, you could have kissed her." I feel myself tense. No, I couldn't have, though. Valeria will never reciprocate the feelings I have for her.

especially after I ghosted her for two years.

Not talking to her wasn't because Heath told me not to; I was just frustrated that no matter how many times I told Valeria that Heath wasn't the one for her or that he treated her badly, she always ended up back with him. Would telling her that Heath had told me to stay away from her have made any difference? Giving her advice on how to deal with her relationship never did.

"Not really." I try to keep playing it off.

Sof has been in my business since we met. She was convinced I had been in love with Valeria since day one, although she wasn't entirely wrong.

I love Sofia she's like a sister to me, but it's gotten quite annoying that every time we're around Valeria, she's giving me looks and telling me to make a move.

Sof is confident Valeria feels the same way for me, but she also says Valeria has never openly confessed her feelings for me.

I'm not taking that chance. I'm not going to lose any chance at having Valeria back in my life because Sofia thinks Valeria has feelings for me.

"Jamie, you know you can't lie to me." I roll my eyes at her. "Maybe you just don't know everything, Sofia." Her face scrunches up in annoyance at me.

Oh she's annoyed?

"Really? Because after two years of not seeing Val, you're still giving her heart eyes. I've been right about everything about you for the past five years I've known you, Jamie. If you want to keep being a dumbass, go ahead. I'm trying to help you, and you won't listen."

I simply raise my eyebrows to tell her to go on, I know she's not done. She'll keep ranting for five more minutes, I won't listen, and we'll be in the same situation again next time she sees me.

"Imagine how you felt when you kept telling Valeria to break up with Heath." I straighten up at the mention of Heath.

"That's how I feel dealing with your stupid ass every time I've had to see or talk to you." I look at the floor.

I hear Sof scoff at my silence.

"I'm done, Jamie." I finally look up at her. She's looking at me with a disappointed look.

"I'm done trying to help you, you'll never listen."

"I never asked for your Help Sofia," She rolls her eyes at me and sighs.

"and don't understand, I can't take the chance that Valeria maybe likes me. I cant lose her again." Sof's face scrunches up in annoyance once again, and she throws her arms up in the air.

"Jamie, she would never stop being your friend because you admitted you were in love with her! You only lost her last time because of your own actions!" She basically yells at me. I look over my shoulder to make sure the talking in the living room hasn't stopped, and when I hear it hasn't, I look back at Sof.

I know deep down she's right, but I'm scared.

Sof shakes her head and just walks back into the living room, without another word. I lean against the counter and bury my face in my hands. I hear footsteps getting closer, and I look up, I make eye contact with Valeria, and my stomach drops slightly at the thought that she could have heard that conversation.

"Hey, you okay?" She asks genuinely concerned. I just nod.

Thank god she didn't hear anything.

"Sof looked pretty mad when she came back into the living room. What'd you guys talk about?" She comes to stand next to me against the counter and gives me her full attention.

"It was nothing." I force a smile on my face and shake my head.

"I hope you guys know you're both horrible liars." She keeps staring at me, trying to dig something out of me.

"I don't like these secrets you're both keeping from me, I will find them out one day." Valeria says this and squints her eyes at me.

I chuckle and rub my right eye, where I feel a headache starting to form.

"I'm sure you will." I smile genuinely at her, and she smiles back, as if she wasn't able to hold it back. Her eyes slip down my face and down to my chest, where she stares for a few seconds.

"Do you, uh, want to get back to the living room?" She says it awkwardly all of a sudden. I nod. She starts to walk out of the kitchen, and I follow not far behind her.

a/n: I really just wanted to write jamie's point of view and show how he feels about valeria, and also show a little more of jamie and sofias relationship.
