I feel like I've been hit by a bus. I've been standing in this hallway for maybe five minutes just staring off into nothing.
Did he think I would just be able to come to a literal life altering realization, and just move on? He just walked off with Andrés.
I don't even know why I'm so mad at him, it's not his fault I didn't get his text. I think I'm just mad at myself.
I finally decide to walk down the hall and down the stairs. Bailey, Andrés, and Jamie are all at the kitchen counter talking to Daniel. Jamie turns his head at the sound of me walking into the kitchen. I try to keep my face neutral, but I know it's not working all that well.
It's enough for Andrés to not notice anything though, but he's a dumbass and never notices anything, so it's not like I had to try. Bailey only gives me a lingering look before she's being told something so her attention is taken away from me. Jamie, he knows I'm trying not to freak the fuck out.
I see my mom preparing something to eat, probably for her and Daniel. I walk over to her, "Oh hey Vale, you want something to eat?" I feel a little sick right now so I shake my head no. She nods and gets back to what she's doing.
"Vale come over here we still can't decide on a movie." Andrés calls out to me. I walk as slow as I can avoiding eye contact with all of them.
"We could watch the Black Panther movie." I suggest. They all nod and finally agree on one movie. Jamie stays silent the whole time and just nods. Daniel wandered off to my mom at some point, and now I have no other choice but to stand here in my thoughts. I walk to where Jamie is on the other side of the counter and stand next to him so our arms brush.
I really just want to see how he reacts. I'm kind of mad at him, no idea for what yet. I lean forward on the counter on my arms and try to listen to what Bailey is saying. I then lean back a little so I can whisper in Jamie's ear. I see him tense as I get closer.
"Let me read the text." Is all I whisper.
"What? No." He says turning his head to me.
"Why? Jamie please." I say at a normal volume this time. He pretends to think for a second. "No."
I look past him at Andrés who looks annoyed I'm interrupting his conversation. "What?" I snap at him. "I was speaking, keep your voices down." I roll my eyes. Everything always has to be about Andrés at all times apparently.
Jamie snorts beside me so I hit his side. "You cannot be laughing right now. I'm mad at you."
"Why?" He fully turns to me.
"You know exactly why. You will answer every question I ask later, and you will show me that text." He raised his eyebrows at me amusement all over his face.
"Actually... Bailey what times that movie?" I look at Bailey who's on her phone looking for the movie tickets, I assume.
"Ummm... nine p.m so in like five hours or so." I smile and look at Jamie who's eyes haven't left my face.
"Well looks like we have time." I grab his wrist as his face drops.
"We'll be right back guys." I say as I drag him to the second living room since no one, except my mom and I, go in there. Although my mom almost never comes in here anymore, since Daniel. Why do we have two living rooms? I don't know, it could have been used as a dining room, but my mom said the kitchen counter was enough.
I close the sliding door almost all the way, leaving a little crack. Jamie sighs dramatically after I let go of him and plops down on one of the couches. I walk to where he's sitting and sit facing him. I have one leg folded under me while the other hangs off the edge of the couch. I hold my hand out waiting for a phone to be put there. Instead Jamie puts his hand there.
