" Niche aao... " He called and said.
" Kyu? " I asked.
" Aao toh sahi... " He insisted and I locked the door of my hostel room and walked down and exited the main gate.
" Yeh tumhare liye? " He passed me a gift neatly wrapped.
" Happy Birthday! " He wished me and I replied,
" Thank you so much, but iski kya zarurat thi... "
" Tum apne dost se ab gift bhi nhi le sakti kya..."
" Are... "
" Chalo ab kholo ise... " He said in excitement.
I nodded and smiled as I opened it. I was a little shock to get such a special gift for me. I could feel my tears ready to fall down my eyes. I gulped and said without looking up,
" Aryan... Yeh... "
" Kya hua? Achcha nhi laga? "
" Nhi... Aisa nhi hai.. Yeh bahut special hai... Isse mujhe yaad aa gaya tha kuch..." I looked at the blue hijab cloth wrapped in butter paper.
" Kya? "
" Tum jaante ho na main stories likhti hun... Toh ek story mein maine aisa hi likha tha jismein mujhe ek ladke ne hijab pehnna sikhaya tha woh wahi hijab mere liye gift tha... Toh ek moment k liye wahi yaad aa gaya tha... Shayad main woh pal jee rhi thi abhi... " I looked up at him and he smiled.
There was a colored paper on it and she took it and read it.
' Happy Birthday to you, Dear Insha. I am blessed to have such a friend like you. You have always supported me and guided me whenever I needed. Thank you so much for being there for me. '
" Awww... Thank you... " I replied and he smiled.
" Ab tum hijab pehnogi... "

" Ready ho ya na ho... Ab toh maine gift de di hai tumhe... Ab toh hijab pehnna hoga tumhe.. "
" Yaar... Please... "
" Kya yaar please...? Ab toh pehnna hi hai..."
" Pr achanak pehnungi toh sab kya bolenge? "
" Yehi bolenge ki kitni khoobsurat dikhne lagi ho ab. Pehle se zyada... " I was taken aback with his statement and thought all the comments one would say with this change...
" Achcha toh ek deal kr lete hai... Tum chahti thi na ki main har test dun aur un sab test mein main bhi top karun... Toh iss saal woh khwab tumhara main poora kr dunga... Pr ab tumhe kal se class mein hijab pehnna hoga... Pakka wada koi comment nhi karega... " His words assured me but the deal made me laugh.
" Deal pakki " I said and smiled.
" Kal ka intezaar rahega... " He said and I walked back with a wide smile.
We waved each other byes and I walked through the stairs upwards and thought while looking at the gift and him,
Shayad yehi ek lamha tha jiska main intezaar kr rhi thi...
Shayad yehi gift ka main wait kr rhi thi...
Shayad isiliye mujhe hijab pehnne ka Mann ho rha tha kuch dino se...
Shayad iss dost k support ki zarurat se main hijabi banungi...
Shayad isi dost ko bheja gaya hai mere hijabi banne ka khwab poora karne k liye...
I opened the door of my room and with Bismillah I entered the room.
I smiled widely and started looking for videos regarding how to wear it.
The next morning, I woke up early. Andar se kuch zyada hi sukoon aur khush thi.
Alhamdulillah Fajr ki namaz time pe padhi.
I started getting ready earlier than usual to get the hijab right.
With closing the last pin, I saw myself in the new attire. Kurta-pant with pinned dupatta and hijab. I smiled and clicked few pics.
Whisper the Ayat-ul-kursi dua, I walked downstairs and on my way to the college.
I heard some people muttering...,
" Look at the girl in blue hijab "
" It's scarf or hijab? "
" Yaar the color of hijab is my favourite..."
" Since when did she start wearing a hijab? "
" It's called hijab? "
I entered the class room and saw many friends of mine looking at me with smiles and wide eyes. I looked at him who was smiling widely. And what I heard him say next, made me smile widely.
" MashaAllah "
