Kokichi's Pov:

I stared at the ceiling, the same thoughts buzzing in my mind. What just happened?  Why did he save me? Why does he trust me? Why did he smile at me? The same thoughts on repeat. I know he has a kind heart but, for someone like me? I just don't understand. The prince confuses me quite a lot. He wants someone as scranny and inexperienced as me to work for him? My mind was cut off by the sound of my stomach rumbling from hunger. Maybe this whole thing is a good thing. Even as much as I hate the royals, my stomach overpowers the hatred inside me. I glanced down at my side staring at my hand which was still attached to my arm. Weird to think I could have lost my own hand if it wasn't for that prince. He was.. tolerable, I think. But he's still a royal. They don't care about people like me and I doubt they ever will. I sat on the bed of the room they lended me for my extended stay. The clock was already 2:00 am and I had a long day ahead of me, so I put my thoughts aside and got comfortable in the huge bed underneath me.

The clock rang throughout the room causing me to spring out of my bed.
"Oh! You're awake! Delightful!-"
"AHHH!-"
"Hush!" Leaning on the door frame was ibadishi-kun holding a pair of cloth?
"Here. These are for you." He handed me the black and white cloth and gave me a kind smile.
"What exactly is this?" I asked, holding the cloth in both of my arms.
"Your uniform of course! Every person that works in the castle has one. I asked Shirogane-chan to make one last night for you!" Ibadishi cheered.
"Uh- thanks?"
"You're welcome. Now, about the rules we went over last night. You remember everything right?"
"Yes yes yes."
"Well let's review anyways just to make sure!" I rolled my eyes, already getting bored.
"First, always be in the same vicinity as prince saihara. Next, always be polite to him when he needs something. And third, the staff, including me, will always be able to help you with anything until you get the hang of it around here. So if you get lost or can't find something go ahead, don't be shy." I nodded at each word that left his mouth until I felt that unbearable pain in my stomach. It felt like someone was completely draining the life out of me and biting into the inside of my stomach.
"Are you alright?" Ibadishi asked, looking a bit concerned. I tried to weakly smile but the pain was growing each second.
"Oh my! Do you need some assistance? What seems to be the matter?"
"M-my stomach. N-need f-food.." I whispered out while beginning to stir in place.
"O-oh! Yes yes! Right on it! Tojo-San has breakfast prepared. I'll be right back. He quickly finished his sentence before darting out the room. I immediately sat down on the bed gripping my stomach for dear life. I squirmed in the bed under me, continuing to roll from side to side. Sooner or later, Ibadishi came back with a woman in front of him.
"Here Ouma. I brought you oatmeal for breakfast with a side of berries." The woman smiled. She handed me a tray and the moment it hit my lap I dug in. The sweet savory flavors made me moan in delight. It was absolutely amazing compared to the stale bread I was used to eating.
"Oh my. Ibadishi-kun seriously wasn't kidding. You were hungry." I looked up at the both of them embarrassed, realizing how I had absolutely no manners.
"Hehe.. my bad. Thank you for the food, um?"
"Tojo Kirumi." Tojo? Wait a minute. That's the girl I saw with the basket of berries yesterday. I shook my head remembering my stupidity and went back to the conversation.
"I'm Ouma. Ouma Kokichi!" I said brightly, now happy food was settling in my stomach.
"Nice to meet you Ouma-kun." She bowed slightly. A little confused, I just giggled at the action.
"Tojo-san is one of the kitchen helpers!" Ibadashi chimes in. She nods her head, confirming that what Ibadishi-kun was saying is true.
"Been working here for six years." She gently chuckled. My eyes widened at that comment.
"Swix ywears?!" I mumbled through my mouth full of food.
"Yes. Even though it does seem like quite a lot, there are some maids who've been working for more like twenty years." My mouth almost dropped open if it wasn't for the oatmeal still being in my mouth. Tojo-chan's eyes wandered my room for a second, scanning the clock on my bedside table.
"Oh no! It's already 7:30. Ouma-kun, go change and head to prince Saihara's room. I presume Ibadishi-kun showed you where that is already?"
"Mhm!" I gulped down the rest of my food that was previously in my mouth and headed to exit my bedroom to find the bathroom. Ibadishi-kun laughed at my lost face and pointed to the door that was labeled
"Staff Bathroom". I thanked them one last time and made my way inside the restroom.
