in the room where you sleep

I woke up to my alarm ringing throughout the room. Johnny leaned over and shut it off, planting kisses on my neck and shoulder, snaking his hand over my hip and down my thigh, pulling me closer to him. I shifted to face him, kissing his lips sweetly. 

"Good morning, doll." He whispered, running his fingers through my hair.

"Good morning, baby. How'd you sleep?" I asked.

"Like a light. Last night was absolutely amazing. How are you feeling by the way, any pain?"

"No, I'm just fine. It was incredible." I smiled, tracing my fingers on his cheek.

"A whole year with you. How the hell did I get so lucky to have a woman like you?"

"I'd like to think I'm the lucky one. You have no idea how beyond grateful I am for this whole year with you. You have been by my side and supported me through everything good and bad. Not once have you given up on me or us. You make me so incredibly happy and I still can't believe you're my best friend and soulmate. If someone had told me our paths would cross a year ago, I'd laugh. I wouldn't think it to be possible. You inspire me, you love me unconditionally, and you give me a reason to breathe. I love you beyond words."

"You are the most loving, selfless, strongest woman I know. I was at a very low point in my life when I met you and I never thought you could piece me back together, but you did. You did everything for me just by being here. I want forever with you. Through all the highs and lows of our lives, I want you right here with me.  I am so in love with you and it'll never die out. I'll do anything and everything for you. Forever. I swear this to you." He kissed me in the most loving way that he always does. 

After laying in bed and talking for a while we got up and got ready for the day. I found myself in the office doing some work. Johnny had left to take care of a couple things for post production on the movie. I was beyond swamped. Paperwork after paperwork had consumed me for the next several hours. I was so deep into it I didn't hear Johnny come into the room. I felt his arms wrap around me. 

"You okay, baby?" I looked up at him, taking a deep breath in and out.

"Just a little overwhelmed that's all. It's never ending. I know it's my job and I love it, I really do, but it's just exhausting."

"I know, baby I'm sorry. I'm so proud of you though. You're doing so great with this new position. It just takes some getting used to." He moved to around to face me and squatted down.

"Listen, how about tonight we get all dressed up to the nines and grab dinner at a really nice restaurant by the coast and just unwind, okay?" I smiled and nodded my head.

"I'd love that." 

"Good. I'll go make you some tea and bring it up while you finish what you need to and I'll be downstairs to give you some peace and quiet if you need me, okay?"

"Okay. I really appreciate you. Thank you." He smiled and kissed me.

"Of course. I'll be back." He made his way downstairs to the kitchen. After a few minutes, he came back up with a mug and set it down, leaving me with one more kiss and back downstairs he went. I turned back around and continued writing. 

7:30 PM

I finally finished up the last file and tossed it onto the pile of other files and immediately walked away from the office. I made my way to the bedroom and grabbed a quick shower, getting out and drying my hair and doing my makeup. I put on my bra and panties and sifted through my closet trying to find something to wear. I settled for the dress I wore last night and zipped it up. I grabbed my heels and walked downstairs and seen Johnny in the kitchen already dressed. He had on a fitted black suit with a dark grey button up underneath, a black tie, and tapered black pants with brown dress shoes. He immediately looked up and smiled a devious grin.

"You know, that dress is pure kryptonite to me now." He said as he got close to me, trailing his hand down my back to my ass, giving a light grab and smack. I chuckled and kissed him sweetly.

"I had no idea." I sat down on the arm of the couch and put on my heels to complete the outfit. I stood up and Johnny's eyes had scanned me up and down.

"Fuck, you are just so stunning."

"And you, are so handsome and so sexy." He smiled and grabbed my hand and we made our way out the door to the car, making our way to the restaurant. Once we had arrived, we were shown to a reserved table outside by the hostess. Johnny pulled out my seat and I sat down as well as he. A waiter shortly followed with a bottle in his hands.

"Your bottle of champagne as requested." He said to Johnny. 

"Oh, wonderful. Thank you so much." He then grabbed our glasses one by one and pouring them with the champagne. The waiter left us to look over the menu. Johnny lifted his glass and grabbed my hand. I grabbed mine and held it up.

"Cheers to you, to us, and to this wonderful journey of ours. I love you." We clinked our glasses and took a sip.

"I love you more. cheers to the journey." I took one more sip and our waiter came back to take our orders. We spent the night talking, laughing, and just enjoying each other's company. Dinner was absolutely to die for. We ate like royalty. After finishing, we had walked out of the restaurant and made our way to the edge of the coast, walking along. 

"Come with me. I want to go up to the overlook."

"Wait I can't walk as fast as you in these heels." I leaned down and took off my heels and grabbing his hand as he led the way to a huge rock formation with a flat slab on top. He stepped up to it and helped me up. I turned my attention to the scenery, looking at the moon and the water.

"It's so gorgeous out here. Are you seeing this?" I turned and Johnny was down on one knee. My eyes widened and welled up with tears. He smiled and held my hand, pulling our a ring box that held the most gorgeous ring.

"You are-" He started getting choked up. 

"You are the only woman I want to have forever with. I can't imagine my life without you. You're my best friend and god I can't thank you enough. I love you so much. I love you for you, your personality, your smile, your love, your everything. I want forever and I mean forever with you. Will you make me the happiest man and marry me...?" I started bawling my eyes out. 

"Yes, yes, absolutely fucking yes." He slid the ring on my finger and instantly jumped into his arms, latching tight. He kissed me passionately and lovingly. I was beyond overwhelmed with emotions and happiness. I couldn't believe this moment was happening. After he let me down and we stepped off the rock, some of the people on the beach cheered and clapped, congratulating us. We made our way off the beach and back to the car and headed home. ONce we got home, we continued our celebration and well, you know where it went. 

Johnny had fallen asleep and I just laid there admiring the ring, smiling to myself. I looked over at Johnny as he peacefully slept, just thanking god for this man, this life, and this love that I never believed I deserved.
