August 1999

It's been a few months since Johnny and I got engaged. It's been absolutely wonderful. I've been planning the wedding and Johnny has helped me out with a few things on it. Mostly the guest list because he knows more people than I do. I decided to take time off from work. It was consuming me beyond what I could handle. It was the first time I ever took time off from this job, so it felt illegal to even ask, but with all the time I had accumulated over the years, I managed a month off. I'm only a week into it and I'm already stir crazy, but it'll be worth taking the time to decompress.

I sat in the living room filling out the invitation envelopes with all the names and addresses. Johnny was in the middle of reading when his phone rang. He got up and answered it and walked outside. As I continued writing, Johnny came back in a few minutes later with a huge smile on his face.

"Hey, smiley pants, what's going on?" He walked over and sat on the couch behind me, snaking his arms around me, kissing my cheek.

"Well, darlin'. It looks like I'm getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame." I quickly shot up from my spot and hugged him tight.

"Oh, baby that's so great! That's such a huge honor! I'm so happy for you! About time you got some well-deserved recognition." I kissed him and gently caressed his face. He just stared at me and smiled.

"God, I can't wait to marry you, you know that?"

"I can't wait to marry you either. I can't wait for forever with you." He kissed me and grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers.

"Don't swim with this on, you'll sink straight to the bottom." He chuckled.

"Oh, don't worry. I'll guard it with my life. So when are you getting the star?"

"It'll be in November I believe."

"Well, I am so proud of you. Very well deserved. You deserve all of the awards in the world."

"You're the best." He kissed me and I went back to writing the invitations out while he went back to reading. I say that these moments are the best in life. So simple and so comfortable. After a couple of hours, I had finally finished the invitations and sealed them up. I set them on the coffee table and just laid there on the floor.

"I finally finished. All 858 of them. Only 20 of them are mine. The rest are all you." I laughed.

"No way. I had that many people?" He stood up and grabbed the list, flipping through the pages.

"Well, shit. I know too many people." He chuckled.

"Not gonna lie, I'm excited to meet your Jump Street cast." I sat up and got on the couch beside him, flipping through the list.

"Oh yeah? You know what's funny, Pete acts like Penhall in real life. Him and his brother. Spot on. It's been a long time since I've seen them, but it'll be great seeing everyone. The majority of the people on this list are good people. That's why I still know 'em."

"It'll be perfect." We decided to stay on the couch and watch TV and just have a lazy day. It just felt like one of those days to that. It's safe it was much needed.
