The beeping of the microwave startled me. I placed an orange and red bookmark in To Kill a Mockingbird, and walked to the microwave. The delicious smell of oatmeal put a big smile on my face. Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Haley, happy birthday to me! I sang to myself. Grabbing the bowl of oatmeal, I sat down on one of my four dining room chairs. Oatmeal being my favorite food of all time, I only waited about three seconds before the chewing sensation began.
I looked at my blue watch which read 8:15 AM. They should be here any moment. They wouldn't forget. Never. I tried to calm myself down. Surely they would never not show up. They had to remember that today was my birthday gathering. DING DONG! I flew out of my chair and placed the empty oatmeal bowl in the sink. "Hey everyone! Come in!" I said. "Happy birthday Aunt Haley," My niece Hilary said to me joyfully. "Thank you Hilary!" I smiled at her. My sister Abigail stepped foot into my house next. "Happy Birthday sis!" She said with open arms. "Aw thanks Abby." "I'm sorry Ryan couldn't make it, he got caught up in work business." Abigail said. "It's okay," I said to her. "Hey, forty-five isn't a bad number at all!" I turned around. Cousin Max. Of course. The jokester has entered. "Thanks Max." I said to him. Lastly was my boyfriend Tanner and his mom and dad. "Happy birthday Hales! For the past three years, I have been looking forward to September 11th! I am so glad that you were born. Your parents would be very proud." Tanner said to me. "Thanks honey." I kissed him and then said: "Mr. and Mrs. Utopia! Thank you for coming! It is very dear to my heart." Now that everyone had arrived, it was time to start the party. First off, came the music. I took my ipod and plugged it into the stereo. Music started to play. I moved towards the kitchen and took orders for drinks.
