"Good morning. My name is Emily Johanson. Today is September 11th, 2001. Please stand, and join me and saying the pledge of allegiance." My class started to stand up with me. "I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America." My class chimed in. "Into the republic for which it stands, one nation, under god, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all." Emily continued. "Thank you, and please be seated. There are no announcements today." We sat down. "Alright so who is getting hot lunch today? It's a grilled cheese sandwich with chicken noodle soup." Thirteen hands shot up. "Okay then! And make sure you are completing your morning work, just like Lynn is doing over here." I pointed to one of my students, Lynn, and used her as an example for what to do. Everyone in the class got up out of their chairs and walked to the morning work bin and took one paper out. A look of satisfaction filled my face.
