Samuel was supposed to steer the plane from Boston to Los Angeles. That didn't happen at all.
Samuel said his goodbyes to his wife Elizabeth and his four wonderful children: Janette, Caroline, Grace, and Marcus. "Daddy, daddy, daddy! "Yes Grace?" Samuel asked his eight year old. "Don't forget that it's my birthday tomorrow!" Grace said with a toothless grin. "Samuel wouldn't forget it for the whole wide world!" Samuel replied. Samuel hugged Grace. Then, Janette, Caroline and Marcus joined us in a group hug. Samuel gave Elizabeth a big hug and she whispered in his ear: "Please be careful. I love you." "I'll be careful honey, and Samuel love you too." Samuel said. Samuel walked out the door and into our minivan. It was 6:40am.
Elizabeth and Samuel were married for sixteen years. They met when they were both in college, at The University of Medicine. Samuel was originally interested in studying Medicine, and saving lives, (which Elizabeth does do now,) but when Samuel married Elizabeth, the love of flying planes struck him. Now Samuel had five people in his life that mean the world to him. Elizabeth, Janette who is eleven, Caroline who is ten, Grace who is eight, and Marcus who is six.
Samuel reached the airport at 7:15am. The flight was not set to take off until 7:59 am. Samuel boarded the plane and took his seat in the front of the plane. Samuel fastened his seatbelt, ready for action. People started to take their seats on the plane.
Samuel thought back to the flight training class which Samuel took fourteen years ago. The class lasted one week, and it was an overnight camp. It was one of the best experiences of his life at the time. One of the highlights was in the middle of the week of the class, when Samuel put his hands on the plane steering wheel for the first time. It felt so right.
